Because of his senseless slaughter of Uke Mochi, the sun goddes Amaterasu decidedshe would never again face her brother in the skies, separating day and night.

Satan is described as giving birth to Sin with a burst of flame from his forehead. Then he has sex with Sin and their child is Death. After being born Death rapes Sin. And their offspring the hell-hounds rip from Sin's abdomen causing the beautiful Sin to become horribly disfigured below the abdomen. After being born the hell-hounds forever feast on Sin's lower part.

The gods had given Izanagi and Izanami a jeweled spear with which to stir the oily ocean of chaos from the bridge of heaven. A drop of water fell from the tip of the spear, creating the first island. Izanagi and Izanami descended onto the island and built a shrine. They circled it and became wed. Izanami gave birth to many deities, but she died giving birth to the sprit of fire. Izanami told her husband not to look at her while she pleaded with the gods to free her from Yomi. Izanagi, grieving for his wife, could not resist looking, so he lit a comb fro hsi hair and found her rotting corpse filled with maggots. He was horrified and Izanami was enraged, chasing him with an army of demons. Izanagi escaped and sealed the path to the underworld with a large boulder. Izanami swore that she would kill 1,000 people everyday, while Izanagi promised 1,500 people would be born each day.

That would have been the first divorce, and there is a bit more to it, but oh, well.

Now I suggest you to play the Shin Megami Tensei Series and the Persona series if you haven't (which actually are included in the Shin Megami Tensei series). Because those games are heavily based on mythology 😀

The only thing I remember from Izanami/Izanagi story is that Amaterasu was created from Izanagi's left eye Tsukuyomi from the right and Susanoo from his nose.

Very good! That was the part I left out, Izanagi ritually cleansing himself and creating the Sun Goddess Amaterasu (Japan's flag is in honor of her and until the... early 1900's? The royal family claimed descent from her.), the Moon God Tsuki-Yomi, and the Storm God, Susanowo. Amaterasu and Susanowo actually have a problematic marriage, but that's another story...

Now I'm going to make a note to check out Shin Megami Tensei. 🙂

Heh, Heh I second that. Chinese Mythology is cool too. All the stuff incorporated into "Journey to the West" is interesting.
