Agreed. I've only ever read 13 and won't read one ever again. Series make much more interesting reading.

i agree. yaoi's are better in shorter chapters.but other genres are better when they're longer. leaves room for more twists and a more interesting plot line. I especially hate when you read a really good oneshot and you sit there wishing it was longer. (nousatsu rock shounen, though that's become a series now YAY!)

I prefer series.
I can't help but associate/stereotype oneshots as just hentai and yaoi... so ya.... no thanks.... Oh, but I have seen some interesting ones but it usually takes a few chapters to a manga to get me really interested.

Both are good for me, one shots are nice because they oftenly have better end than series. Series are good while they don't get draggy and endless.

Series... good one-shots are so darn hard to find... esp shoujos..in the end of the day, I just delete everything that I leeched.

I rather read series, at least 1 volume long...
Oneshots are good too.
It all depends on how interesting they are.
The problem with oneshots is that many are too short and don't deliver much story... Some are great, better than whole volumes.
Series on the other hand, tend to be too long, and sometimes there are volumes that make me think "why were they written, anyway?~" after reading...

The interest lvl doesn't depend on the lengh, but on the quality...

I prefer short series (which is odd because historically I translate long ones). The problem with longer series is that the author is forced to move past the point in the story where it was originally supposed to end (or there was never an ending planned at all), so it just gets ridiculous, and the eventual ending is terrible.

To me, the ideal manga is between 3 and 6 volumes long, and planned from page 1 through to the end before it ever starts.

One-shots are generally okay for me, but they always leave me wanting more and I hate having to feel that way, so I tend to avoid most manga shorter than three volumes unless the summary and comments leave an impression.

Longer series, since you get attached to the characters and the plot is more complex, generally.

For shoujo, I prefer one shots though, they're cute, but only in small doses.

Sometimes I get in the mood and just feel like reading oneshots, but generally speaking, I prefer series.

Oneshots, without a doubt.
With one-shots, the author has a beginning, middle, and end set out. I find with many series, the author doesn't seem to have created a definite conclusion for the series to reach, so he just goes along with the flow.
And generally, I don't have the patience for series that are over 10 volumes in length.
I think oneshots are on a whole a lot more interesting to read. In fact, some of my favourite manga are oneshots.
