Best Rock Band

I didn't see any topic for this yet and if there is please tell me.
In your opinion, what is the best rock band? It doesn't have to be your favorite but tell us what band and why.
For me I recently changed my choice to Metro Station cuz their songs have the kind of melody that doesn't make you want to smash something and also I can understand whatever the hell they're saying in their lyrics. Their song "Shake It" was iTunes Song of the Week btw.(the more you know)

Well, I've been a long-time L'ArcenCiel fan, so that's a given. XD But lately I've also really been into Monoral. I'm not saying they're the best rock band ever, I'm just saying they're the best rock band for ME (given my quirks, my personality, and my taste). 😀
I don't know much about western rock bands so I can't say much about it. I mean, I like some songs from a lot of different bands like The Doors and Pink Floyd, but I've never really followed all their music like a fan would.
And I agree with ya, Nanashi, I like rock music where I can actually understand what the vocalist is singing. I'm also leaning more towards progressive rock. 🙂 Just a personal preference.

The only prog rock that I like, even a little, is Rush. If I were to list my favorite rock bands that are still making music they are:
- The Black Keys
- Wolfmother
- Deathcab For Cutie/ DOWN(tie for 3rd place)

Your opinion is your opinion I guess. I just don't really care for mainstream bands too much (except for in classic rock). I also made another post so 😛 . And real punk>pop punk

If you like punk, listen to Black Flag, The Sex Pistols, Bad Brains, and Minor Threat, not some pop band like greenday. Green Day is pop, not punk.
And without classic rock, there would be no punk rock.

Jeez atleast if you don't like it respect it.
Because no matter how much I don't care about punk, Sex Pistols>>Green Day. Sorry, but they were first. GD even cited them as a source of inspiration, nee? So if SP or classic rock in general sucks, then by a mathematical ecuation, all rock today sucks too.

Lol@sakon all the bands you have listed so far have been emo pop posers.
Hmm, I can't really list my top 3 in a good order because it is such a toss up.
Pink Floyd
The Who
Queen
Rush
Queens of the Stoneage
Sparta
Led Zeppelin are some good bands off the top of my head though I really can't pick between them. Also some of those might not be bands I can't think straight right now I haven't been able to sleep the last five days. I hope I got them right but meh.
