Yeah, I'd be polite to you as well. Since I wouldn't know it was you. Probably Stupidly so, with MAYBE even a 'Sir' in there somewhere, although I don't always do that. At the very least you'd get a flashing smile and a 'Hello, how are you?" If you said Hi. XD

Polite around strangers... maybe not polite, more just quiet. Around friends or people I know well enough I am an abrasive asshole =)

Basically, pass the smile and it will continue being passed to others hopefully is something that is my starting point. But this differs and not all can go around being polite all the time. For some it's a mask (since they usually never learned how), (as it used to be for me) they put it on and as mentioned previously in this thread, it can be quite taxing for them (as it used to be for me). It's just how it is and I don't think one should try and put it into some kind of value system.

Would I be wrong in claiming politeness to be a skill and not a part of ones personality? I feel it is anyway but whatever.

Do you know what people did in the old days when they had secrets they didn't want to share?

They'd climb a mountain, find a tree, carve a hole in it, whisper the secret into the hole and cover it up with mud. That way, nobody else would ever learn the secret...

I'm quite polite. The way I talk, my tone of voice, everything says "polite"... which is probably one of the many reasons people think I'm a lot older than I am.

depends on my mood, but most of the time, i feel rather indifferent to people...i'd be rude to strangers, but once you're my friends, well, i'll still be rude, but in a warming way~!

i'm more polite around adults, though i do cuss a lot at nonspecific targets
