I saw the clip a couple of times. It starts with the singer, apearantly naked, then we have a close up to her face. So... she sings and stuff comes out from her head (only shown with movement), seen after it "leaks" from her eye , comes into her mouth and that moves on to the other eye or something and this is how the clip goes (it prosses is just speeds up).

Ok. That was so freaking weird.... Not to metion the clip. The song itself was strange....

You're probably thinking of "Hidden place", by Björk.
I'm not the biggest fan of Björk, but I wouldn't call her weird. I'd say she's an avant-gardist... She's a genius in a way. Even if I don't exactly love what she does, I do respect her work a lot.

The funny thing about avant garde music is that its either so out there that people don't understand it, and therefore think it's amazing, or so minimalistic that people don't understand it, and therefore think it's amazing.

The only avante garde stuff that I dabble in is Avante Garde Jazz, a la Ornette Coleman et. al.

That people don't actually understand avant-gardist stuff and just pretend to to look smart? Because critics said something is good everybody will follow blindly?
While I do believe that to be true sometimes. I do not think it really is the case with Björk. And at least it never was my case with anyone.

I only listen to music because I enjoy it, not to make myself look smart. Actually there is nothing I hate more than having an argument about music, and over analyzing music. I don't care how hard it was to play that song, or about the political/religious views of the artist. All that shouldn't matter imo. What really matters is the overall enjoyment you get from listening to said music.

That said, I'm not saying this because I'm on the defensive and was offended by what you said, certainly not. So don't worry.
It was mostly to say that, even if I don't care about the effort it took the artist to make the songs in order to enjoy it or not. It does matter in order for me to respect the artist or not.
I don't like Björk's music, but I do respect her as an artist. I also don't like snoop dog's music but I certainly DO NOT respect him at all. And at the same time, I did enjoy some songs for which I had no respect for the artist performing them. It was just a simple catchy tune, and I liked it. That's it.

^Oh, I'm not saying that you are like that, it's just my opinion of avante garde music in general. Like I said, I enjoy some Avante Garde myself. It is true, however, that some people listen to avante garde as a means to seem more sophisticated, seeing as Avant Garde itself means "Advanced Guard/Vanguard".

As far as respecting musicians, I respect almost all musicians because I am one myself. I don't respect a musician like Kenny G, because of the fact that people like them/him think their better than everyone else. Snoop Dogg has actually made quality music and is one of my all time favorites.
