There's only one Answer for that question and it is because most want to force ya to download a program, learn to use it. get into their rooms and read all the crap its being said while forming part of those wasting their time giving it to the anime comunity. It is both a mean and a cool way to feel loved and know people care enough for them(because if u dont theres no way you will go to IRC)

lol. If anybody thinks that is a behavior specific to IRC they are a fool.

...I just remembered why I started using IRC in the first place! 🤣

Waaaaay back when I had dialup, someone I knew on a forum LURED me to IRC with a manga he had that I desperately wanted & that I hadn't been able to find anywhere else~

Torrents may have been around back then but I wasn't aware of them, and direct dls didn't resume, so IRC was like a dream come true for dling manga (probably needless to say, I didn't dl ANY video files back then, and very few music files either).

Having gotten into the habit of getting manga on IRC, and not having any problems with it, I've just kept on doing so. 😃
