But yaoi is not a subgenre of hentai. It's its own genre. Some might resemble hentai, but others are more like smut shoujo, while others are more like mature seinen/josei. I've never read a hentai that goes for chapters without any sex scenes, while I've seen quite a few yaoi like that...

Haha, I knew you'd respond exactly like that. What you're referring to as "Hentai" is just "straight Hentai". You have to think more abstract.

There are two major classifications of Hentai.

The heterosexual Hentai,
and the homosexual hentai (Yaoi & Yuri).

And don't worry, just try Kisaragi Gunma's works, Yamatogawa's and Shiwasu no Okina's. I didn't say they were specifically aimed at females though, there are lots of "neutral" Hentai as well.

[And I could've sworn that there are even Hentai magazines aimed at women, but I can't seem to find it again.]

Those works predominantly feature one male with a harem of females, doc.

Yes, some women are much more than they let on, and then there are those of us who are vocal about it. 😉

Come on, what woman isn't horny?

We, women, have been covered up with fake male innocence long enough.
I say no more!

Yeah, yeah, do whatever you want with your body, I do not care as long as my bishoujo wives remain as pure and innocent as I am.

Yeah, Doc. They are relatively soft but their drawing styles (men are not especially good-looking) and the way they expose the female body would make me think they are still aiming at a straight male audience though women can read them too. You can easily find girl on girl action in a lot of hentai manga without the yuri label. But finding male on male action in non-yaoi H manga? Not easy.

I read hentai for a laugh at the ridiculosity when I do have some time. Never get turned on or something by it. I would be more interested if it really has a decent realistic but funny plot but most hentai lack that. I am sure most men don’t read hentai just for a laugh.

Is there any reverse harem hentai with real good-looking guys and the girl is not portrayed as weak, submissive or a victim (wouldn't think gang rape is reverse harem though), and where the most exposure is the male body? I would love to read that.

I don't think the majority of (esp. straight) women will actively read and buy those (mostly) male-oriented seijin magazines unless they are a mangaka and need research materials or a real otaku. The reason is not that they would mind those, but that they would probably rather spend their time on something else more interesting to them and more catering for their tastes instead of watching close-ups of female body parts, how a girl’s mouth sucks a dick, and yuri action, etc on almost every panel and those plots that are not interesting enough to make priority of. Of course there are exceptions.

I've heard that there are at least one or two ladys' H manga magazines. But I don’t think I've never read anything from them and don't know what they are like?

The yaoi similar to hentai are a very, very small number, and a large part of them are shotacon manga for men. So they are basically nothing.

And I think women have to work for it too, unless they don't have any standards at all. Some guys I know have standards and don't be around at any woman's snag of fingers. And yes, they reject some girls’ advances.

Also you need to take culture into consideration. In Japan, expectations on people and their attitudes on things are different from in a Western society. I've heard about the easy availability of prostitution in Japan. Perhaps women have to work even harder to get what they really want? Who knows?

Liria, I've heard somewhere on the net that those H manga for females feature rape stories but it's done by dashing young men, contrary to those old, fat, ugly men who rape school girls in some hentai. Not sure whether it's true. 🙄

At least it is an attempt. You would think SOMEONE would realize there's a niche that's not being well-probed and would fill it.

I'm not asking for much: hentai with softer, more realistic art. The sex can be just as frequent, graphic, and vigorous, but don't use constantly flying bodily fluids to indicate it - that's not normal. The story can be as "PWP" or detailed as any other, just don't make her breasts larger than her head; etc. The guys don't have to be bishounen, but don't make them bulldogs either.

Some people will say that's what "josei smut" is, but I would disagree. Some might say that's what doujinshis are for. Maybe that IS true, but djs don't appeal to everyone. (I generally dislike djs, unless they're original. - Isn't "original doujinshi" an oxymoron though?)

Either way, yes, women like to read about sex as much as men do. I wonder if perhaps men read sex with more of a sense of detachment (for the act) and women read with more of a sense of attachment (for the emotion)? Often for me, the sense of attachment is important - I dislike meaningless sex (irl, in manga, or otherwise). Perhaps that's why it's a more natural outcome in stories for women that often center around emotional attachment and romance (shoujo smut, josei smut, shounen ai, yaoi, etc.)

I think "original doujinshi" means that it is made by the orginal work's author.

That's a genralization. I am sure some women prefer reading about sex without attachment too. They can have all sorts of fetish, just like men. It really depends on the person.

How about in a hentai where the women become faceless and nameless, while the men are shown on almost every panel, like a complete reversing of roles of the regular hentai? I'd love to find that but even josei smut is not like that.

It also has to do with Japan's gender culture therefore shoujo smut, etc are the way they are. Maybe women readers in Japan are happy with the josei magazines?
