It's around 44% for me or so, it's in my top three too, but I don't really like romance manga that much, it just happens that a lot of the stuff I read contains romance 🤣

I am female and I read only romance manga / Over 90% of the manga I read contain romance; I will only read non-romance manga if the plot is incredibly interesting.

the only non-romance manga that i read are naruto, bleach, code:breaker and prince of tennis

First things I look for in a title is the possible pairings...

You sure about that, blak? 😛

Most of what I read is romance, though I will read non-romance that sparks my interest.
My 'romances' do also include yaoi, though. (But it's still true for the shoujo/josei/shounen/seinen/hentai I read too.) I voted in the female/60% or more category.

40-some percent of what I read is romance.
I won't vote since there's no option for anything between 20 and 60 percent.

How can HG be anything else, blak?

99.9% of the manga I read has romance.
In fact it isn't just manga... movies, novels, art... everything needs to have some sort of romance or I'm out.

In fact I'm don't think I've ever read a manga without romance. 😐

There should not have been discrimination of yaoi, hentai, and loli though.
The only loli I've ever read was based on romance.

And what is this survey about, actually? Are you trying to figure out who reads heterosexual romance stories or are you trying to insinuate something about intersexuals, transsexuals, gays and lesbians? 😕 If the former, perhaps there might've been a better way of phrasing the question. If the latter, ah well... nothing to say. 🙂

Oh- wow, I never thought my innocent question could be interpreted like that. I'm not trying to prove anything - I have nothing against intersexuality, homosexuality, etc. I just noticed that most of the people with public lists read only romance manga - but what about those whose lists were not public (and there are a lot of those)? I just figured a poll would be good way to get an estimate.
Once again, this is just random curiosity. I have no intention of offending anyone. I don't think that every poll ever created in this website has a clearly defined purpose, so it doesn't seem wrong to me to create a poll that isn't strictly scientific or academic.

So hentai/ lolicon/ shotacon does not classify under hetrosexual romance? confused
Also, what's wrong with hentai? There's quite a bit of romance happening in most of 'em :\

Yes - shotacon, lolicon and hentai can be defined as 'heterosexual romance'. It's just that I have no interest in those genre. I never meant to imply that there was anything wrong with reading those kinds of manga. And note that hentai, shotacon and lolicon are separate genre in the MU database. I don't think they necessarily coincide with romance 100% of the time.

Ah, fair enough.

@cyclamen
I think the reason is that girls who almost never read (straight) romance can still read a lot of yaoi, while the ecchi mangas read by guys almost all contain the romance tag.

You seem to have hit the nail right on the head.
However, I can assure you that I have never read yaoi in my life, and I never will. I read maybe 4 or 5 shounen-ai; but the same principle applies to me with BL as it does with straight romance. I will only read it if the plot is extremely interesting. I don't read manga for their sex appeal, I read them for their story. And judging by cyclamen's lists, she's no BL fan either.

On another note- cyclamen; you and I are really two-of-a-kind! I can't believe that there's another girl besides me who is neither a romance fan, nor a yaoi fangirl. 😀

You know- maybe we're long-lost twins or something 🤣
You are so right- I don't get the point of reading manga and novels or watching movies, anime and cartoons just to stare at some annoying couple (guy-girl, guy-guy or girl-girl) getting it off all day. 🙄
I mean - there should be some kind of story, right? What's the point of senseless lovey-dovey stuff without a good plot to back it up? Romance is but a tiny portion of a person's life. But in most books, movies or whatever, it's the only damn thing the characters think about all day! I am so shocked that only about 0.05% of the population seems to find that irritating. 😮 (And please don't say anything about that percentage. It was just an expression, not an actual fact ^^)

I think at least 90% of what I read is romance, but I still read non romantic stuff too. It doesn't have to have a highly interesting plot for me to read it though. If I like what I see and read, then I'll continue to read it regardless...

I voted for the 20% option but I have no real sources to base this guess on, only favoritism.
Usually, there is some kind of romance if the manga exceeds a certain amount of volumes. Even in your favorite bloody shounen-manga.
But I usually don't search for romance actively because it is not interesting enough (you can have it in real life).
Sometimes, romance adds depth to a serious shounen manga (like vagabond) and I do appreciate it as a way to deepen the characters.

Oh it's okay... I apologize for being too mean. 🙂 Nope... I kinda got what you're saying. Thanks for explaining your intentions. 🙂

I chose the male/60%+ romance manga. But I don't mean those sparkly shoujo ones, I mean any manga that has romance in it. Romance makes them more interesting.

I read mostly romance, but that's really only because I prefer manga with a female perspective and when there's a female perspective romance seems to follow. I do like romance, but I like girly friendship manga even better.
