And personally... I find scanning and just uploading work kinda wrong. I mean, with scanlations people are actually translating work and put a little effort into it.

Then where would raws come from?
I'm not really surprised that this happened, as someone was bound to get caught eventually and I remember reading about those guys getting caught a few years back. I'm just kind of surprised that it was a 14 year old kid who had access to unreleased chapters.

Hahahaha this is whats wrong with our society. There are killers on the loose everyday, but no the police are more occupied with arresting 14 year olds for leaking out manga on the internet. ROFL!!
It's all about the greed I guess. They can make more money suing a 14 year old than catching serial killers and rapist I suppose. 🤣
I COULD NOT AGREE MORE.
I saw an article just the other day saying that a group of people trying to weed out child porn sites on the web, had to shut down their operations because of lack of funding and the absence of police support. Well, hardly surprising - after all, what greedy businessman / lawyer / law enforcement official cares if every kid in the world gets raped, so long as he earns his money?
If they had manged to weed out all the illegal crap that is ruining our world (murder, sexual abuse and embezzlement, to name but a few) before they started going after teenagers trying to read manga, I would actually have supported their decision to take down scanlations!
Lol so the 14 yrs old is screwed (still I dont know how can you sue an underage), while Youtube is untouched even if they allowed the distribution via their media of such prohibited/illegal contents? Talk about equality XD

No kidding. But, after all, YouTube has lawyers (and almost all the web-users in the world) supporting them, while the 14-year-old has no-one on his side (not even the people who read all the stuff he uploaded). Why take the risk of losing money trying to sue a big-shot, when a small-time criminal can be your scapegoat for free?
Yep- no doubt about it, money makes the world go round 🙄
I'm not trying to justify what the kid did; certainly, he was in the wrong and should be punished legally. But that sentence is way too harsh- the punishment should be equal to the crime, not a thousand times worse! At least, that's how real justice should be... Not like there's any real justice in this world anyway... So, go figure?
