Video Games: Pokemon
Anime: Yugioh
Cards: Uno
I followed the yugioh anime more closely than pokemon back in the good ol' days, thus being more attached to the story/plot/characters. Pokemon games are sooo fun, though.

For the games I prefer Pokemon and for card battling (quit that last year) I will prefer Yu-Gi-Oh.
I don't read manga or watch the anime for either of them anymore, but I did watch Poke'mon more than I did Yu-Gi-Oh when I was younger, but I say Yu-Gi-Oh anime was better.
Poke'mon is one huge pandemic, though recently, the new Poke'mon games Poke'mon are not appealing at all. 🙁
yu-gi-oh. because I grew up with it...well I grew up with pokemon too
I dont like the GT, 3d or etc stuff only the first yu-gi-oh...
well pokemon...it's a tad too long for my taste haha...though the games are good entertainment for a short period of time...(card-wise it would be yu-gi-oh)
hmm-I guess I'm fine with them both. i don't really care/can't decide which is better since I grew up with them both.
they're the same to me..kinda

I hear you say "Why?" Always "Why?" You see things; and you say "Why?" But I dream things that never were; and I say "Why not?"

why are you making me choose?!?!?! i grew up playing pokemon and each generation will always have a spot in my heart, but my first anime crush was the Pharoh, also known as Yami later to be called Atem, from Yu-Gi-Oh!. what can i say, i was young. it was hard to get into Gx, but 5ds? they lost me a long time ago. at least with pokemon you still have some of the same characters and the storyline stays the same. even the manga is closer than with Yu-Gi-Oh! still love the Pharoh! maybe it's a'cuz they weren't afraid to enter dark waters and use mature themes on a kid show.

Pokemon for me, it's just better done and kept a consistent level of quality instead of plummeting to nothing like yugioh did.
Yugioh was good in card and anime form for the first while, first few expansion sets were good and the anime was decent albeit made no sense if you actually played the card game. Then they started recycling the cards and basically making the same cards over and over under different names and calling it expansion sets and the cards went downhill from there. The anime got slightly better with GX but got worse when they decide to take it to the spirit world or whatever again. The video games were crap in the beginning and got better when they reached the world champion series, after that though it didn't improve by much and usually sucked because of the crappy AI and story mode.
At least pokemon was consistent, Ash and Pikachu are always the protagonists, the games added new pokemons every generation and there was always an evil organization to thwart.

pokemon
the biggest reason is what the story is about
in the begining of the manga yugioh was not about some silly card game it was about all sorts of games and it dealt with atleast somewhat realistic problems for the main characters
later it turned into a silly card game that was so EPIC that the evil characters run big tournaments had their own private armies and did everything to win[kill, cheat, pay off, threat ASOASO]
pokemon was some kids having adventures in lots of diffrent settings with cute animals and fighting badguys who treated the animals bad
and kasumi, haruka and hikari are alot cuter than Anzu
[based mostly on what i think about the pokemon anime and the yu gi oh manga]
Pokemon!
THEY'RE EFFIN CUTE!
And their names are awesome.

You are like the dense main character in a shoujo manga.

Never really got into Pokemon. Watched the anime whenever it was on but didn't really care for it, and I never had a Gameboy until after the Pokemon craze died out, and even now I still find the games unappealing.
Was more into Yu-Gi-Oh!; the anime, the TCG and the manga. In fact the original seven-volume run was the first manga I bought and got into. Collected and loved the cards for a few years, now they just sit in a dusty old tin under my bed somewhere. The anime got proper silly when they went back to ancient Egypt, lost interest around that point.
Also, you probably should've included Digimon since that was fairly popular for a while (although not as popular as the other two).
Pokemon ftw. I didn't even know there was yugioh's fans...

Pokémon. Simply because I didn't grow up with Yu-Gi-Oh so much. But also, I like to breed and foster things, like plants, pets, ... students. Haha. ^^° So, Pokémon fulfills all my desires.
