Well, if you wanted, you can just make this similar to what series pages have.

However, if groups want a forum, they normally make their own. That way, they don't have to check here and there for peoples comments. Though, I can also see unpleasant things occurring with this idea (I know it is more than likely that this is dead and until recently buried thought... but whatever).

As for the prevention of zombie threads... it's better to leave as it is. If you don't like what people are doing/saying, you can just lock Frankenstein's monster, rather than to prevent the slim possibility of making a decent contribution to an aging thread.
