It was about 6 years ago since we did our last (and only) "Best of" polls for shounen, shoujo, seinen, and josei. The nomination process will be done through Google Forms, and it will require you to log in with a Google account. In a few weeks, I'll close the nomination forms and we'll get started on using the site poll on MU to vote. For each poll, the choices will be the top 10 nominations for each category.

Are manwha and webcomics also accepted in the nominations? Like Tower of God? Or is it manga only?

Anyway why isn't this nomination also for hentai, yaoi, shounen-ai, shoujo-ai and yuri. That would also be nice.

Omg this is a great chance to review all the titles I have read (hundreds of them). Found many nostalgic series... And to my surprise, even though I mostly read shounen and shoujo, most of the series I love best belong to the seinen category 😲 I had a really hard time to choose just 5 of them. While with shounen, I have to think hard for the 4th and 5th options since I don't know which one is good enough.

Yeah, but not having 18+ and not allowing shounen-ai, or shoujo-ai are two completely different things -.-;;

@PansyWansyLinsy: some of the works are labeled as shoujo too (since all that is actually subganre of shoujo) so maybe some of the works you wanted to nominate are labeled as such too.

I see, so your reasoning could be anything from inherent bias to making this a PG-13 friendly poll? Although there are definitely seinen and josei/smut works that could be classified as 17+ with heavy sexual content? Shounen-ai/shoujo-ai as we classify it has no 18+ content at all.

Agreed, and that would be an interesting workaround. I've never participated in their best of poll so I'm not sure how the voting process works. Many BL readers are from a young female demographic so I can understand that reasoning.

Probably won't be participating anyway seeing as I don't read nearly enough from the other demographics to justify a vote.

Isn't seinen and josei also 18+? Most seinen and josei isn't suited for children. Well, it's your chose, it's probably to much work. 😎 Anyway, it would be to difficult for me to chose five good yaoi series anyways.

I at least hope that one of my chooses made it in the top 10 that I at least can vote. And please don't let Naruto or Bleach end up in the top ten, then I would flip. I also hope that short series aren't ignored, completed series always have difficulties to get in such lists, because they are mostly very deep buried in the memory of people. 😢

All sorts of manga with a focus on homosexual relationships were published in general audience magazines with target demographics applied as the Tezuka winning Zankoku na Kami ga Shihaisuru or Tempest to give examples of both so the notion of such isn´t technically out of the question. Traditional Yaoi/Yuri are treated as porn by the book market anyway so i also view them as hentai (naming the readers rotten girls isn´t nice but that one stuck) and none have a chance to win a MU award in the end due to the limited appeal. Seinen is also an all ages publication form (the book Fifty Shades of Grey is too btw.) and not hentai or Bill 156 wouldn´t exist. Anyone can also start a poll on such in the 2 18+ sub forums...

We've had polls in the past that asked if we like fan service, if we read hentai, and what bust size we would like girls in manga to have.

This is not a PG13 site. People are allowed to post releases of hentai and other 18+ manga, and there is a forum section dedicated to 18+ material. And as others have mentioned, Josei and Seinen are by definition 18+. Which means people would technically be allowed to nominate Josei Smut or Boderline-H Seinen.
