The point is that he should still be alive even at that age. Besides, Roku died in an accident so his death shouldn't be counted in this...he would've lived for much longer if it wasn't for the volcano incident.

As for the new series, I'm pretty excited and yet at the same time, I don't want it to be real and eventually be disappointed by yet another of Hollywood's crappy attempts of an adaptation...because it's bound to happen.
Shammylammy's getting a big head from his first desecration of the series, and I doubt he'd wanna stop.
To think there are people who are actually defending him...

Well, the creators said he "burned up some of his extra Avatar time" from the 100 year freeze... It's a cop out, but the logic is there.

However, you guys also have to take into account that we don't know how he died... he could have died of natural causes like you all are assuming or unnatural. We just don't know at this time.

Also, if there wasn't any mention of Korra being a chick, judging frm the picture, I would've guess that it was a dude...with curvy hips. I mean..I see a width of three heads on those shoulders! - not to mention that they're pretty toned.
Since it's not final, I hope they make her look more...feminine.

Though, "passionate, rebellious, and fearless teenaged girl"...Isn't that the typical American heroine? Seems like Katara and Toph...It'd be nice to see a shy heroine for once, just to see the unique situations that can come of it.

And it seems like another Avatar-against-a-powerful-group story, but the Avatar's job is to maintain peace, so I guess it's inevitable.

Those are my main thoughts. I wonder if Korra has any relation to Katara and Sokka. 🙂

Weeell it is and american cartoon and i'm personally sick and tired of shy characters as they seem to be the mainstay of japanese animation :S

It's probable that she's Sokka's grandaughter and Katara's great niece (not sure on the terminology) but Katara is Tezin's mother so i doubt sh'es otherwise related to Korra

I say so because it's an American cartoon. They're not Japanese, so I'm interested in just what they can come up with, experimenting outside of their comfortable zone. Well, I'm basically fine with anything, as long as it isn't terribly cliche. ^^;

If you saw the first season of Avatar is great, the second one so-so and the third one was kind of a disappointment but the last 4 eps somehow saved the show. Now nobody knows how this new season will be since is actually a whole new series, I for one will give it a try.

As for not wanting a strong heroine you either didn't read enough manga or you are the luckiest manga fan I ever met and you only picked up mangas with really good characters. I think 3/4 of the female leads are stupid crybabies that need to be saved it's actually refreshing seeing a girl that can take care of herself.

Not really meaning to start a huge debate about this, but I beg to differ. The second and third season were the best of the three. The first season had too much fluff, much like what you usually see in other family friendly cartoon. Probably end of the 1st/mid-2nd season was when the plot became more serious and the mission more crucial. It was less filler-ish and more continuous. And then the third season was where it came together. But okay, I'll agree that only by the Invasion part did stuff start getting good. Shame they didn't have more of good Zuko and his adorable mop head though.

Anyways, back to Korra. I really hope she has a team. Not only her and Tenzin. But I doubt they'll be related. Maybe Zuko will have a son! And she and him can get together! You know, to make up for that ship tease the writers tortured people.

Well, I just found out something that dampers the news about The Legend of Korra a bit...

At SDCC, Michael and Bryan confirmed that it's actually going to be a 12-episode miniseries. Kinda sucks that it's going to be that short, but it's better than nothing.
