Online Readers
I only download when my Internet is being a bastard and loading at a frustrating rate. Plus I have saved on my PC certain series that I liked, so naturally I download those new chapters that come out.
Other than that, I find it more convient to just read them online. I follow quiet a few series. I can't be asked to download them all and then delete them each time.

I use MMCE_Win32 to read mangas i download, no need to unzip RAR or ZIP file. Online reading sites r convenient when I want to check out some recommended mangas.

They aren't slow for me, I like to save space, and I'm lazy. Plus I read TONS of manga and I'm not going to download all of them onto my computer. The only time I ever download is if I have no choice. Even then I make sure to do a quick search to see if somebody ignored the rules and uploaded a chapter somewhere early. I guess in short: I'm unapologetically lazy.

I like them because they are easy to work with and useful! (Plus: no junk left on your machine 😉 )
Can't really say that about a lot of things I encounter when I work with computers...

It is easier and you won't fill your computer with stuff.
"I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best..."
I don't use them, I prefer to download stuff.
They are going to become extinct anyway with this "manga coalition war".

Maybe there is some secret to using online manga readers, but I find them horribly frustrating, how do people read them? Usually the adverts at the top of the page mean that you have to scroll down to view the page and often even then usually it won't fit on one screen height. Switching pages is jarring as well. Cdisplay etc is pure joy in comparison, just automatically fits to the screen, press space bar for next page, no distractions.

if it's just one chapter then I can read it online, if it's like 40+ chapters then it's easier to use CDisplay.

I download stuff cause it's more comfortable to read manga that way. Online readers take time to load each page and you can't see it fullscreen. Plus I want to store manga so I could read them again if I desire to. Anyway how things are going these days those online readers will bite the dust very soon.
I used CDisplay but not since I discovered MangaMeeya. I can recommend this little app to anyone. It's way more advanced than CDisplay.

If I had to pay for every volume of every series I'd read, I think most probably my parents would be in major debt. The only problem is that, a side from onemanga.com, other online readers have problems with viruses and after several bad experiances with nasty viruses and trojan I'm too cautious to read on alternative readers that have mangas I'd like to read.
Also, many of the mangas on the interenet aren't stocked at my local bookstore (or online at their website) because our waterstones has a sadly depleted manga stock. Bleach, Naruto and that's about it. Without the mangas at the bookstore I would be very wary about buying manga from the interenet if I hadn't read at least two chapters and enjoyed it. online readers mean that its easy to pick up, drop or continue mangas without having to pay for for everything you haven't (or have) enjoyed.
I do sometimes think that I would like to buy the complete series of certain mangas, but I actually think that scanslation groups do a better job translating in the fact that they do all the special effects and stuff.

I rate manga with 5 being the average score.

1 - don't need to search where to download the last chapter =)
2 - no need to keep space on your HDD (but scan generaly aren't that big so it's not a real problam)
3 - The main point for me, i can't download at work but i can use read online site so i have no choice =)
But at home i prefer downloading series to read them, it's generally in better quality and you can make pics to fit the screen width so i like =)
