I think it's pretty arrogant and hypocritical to call other people stupid just because of the games they play. If they don't want to spend months learning to play a real guitar and instead opt to playing a fake guitar for just an hour of their day, let them be. It's like saying we should just do the 500-meter dash in real life instead of playing a simulation of it in the wii. It just isn't the same. There's a certain fun factor involved that can't be replicated by doing it in real life.

The word we're looking for here is fun.
Everyone plays games for short term enjoyment. Some people just want that, and nothing else. And that's perfectly fine, be it in music games or whatnot. Real guitar takes real time and commitment to learn. Some people just want to have fun for an hour or two. My mom likes playing "Hit me with your best shot". It takes less than 5 minutes. Will she ever learn how to play the real guitar so she can play the song in actuality? Never. We're talking about 5 minutes here versus months of practice. Some things are for fun, some things are to be taken seriously.

Now, now hate Harmonix not each other. I have yet to make a thread that has been locked. Dont want to start with this one.

Its fine to say you dont like the game and the reasons why, but to directly insult other people for enjoying the game is wrong and it leads to comments like the last few we've seen.

fallofkakashi you're excluded from that list since your last comment didn't directly insult anyone. You merely stated that you don't understand why people like play a pretend intsrument.

Wow youre so right. i also like shooter games though. I guess i should just go out to apply for the army, and kill people in iraq. because the real life application of a videogame is just as, if not more fun, than the videogame.

im making the point that no videogame is constructive. they are for fun. basically exactly what razril just said. there is also just as much of a risk in making a band. lets say you go through all this work, practice for months, make a band, get on stage and then... you suck. you fail the song as guitar hero would say. maybe you messed up some notes, maybe stage fright. the crowd will know you suck and all the time will be wasted. or you could be playing guitar hero, and say "dude, i can just try again."

I don't get why you're comparing a real guitar with a guitar game. ._.

If you're looking for fun (with friends), guitar games are definitely the way to go. I'm not going to seriously learn how to play a guitar. o.O I'd rather play it just for fun with a friend.

There's an obvious difference between the two. =D They're on two different levels too. Playin a guitar is real life, guitar game is a game, in the end. Games are supposed to be fun, and real life is most of the time more bothersome than playing a game. ._.

Lol in a way karayoke is like Guitar Hero, your singing songs sung by famous singers. The only differance is no one cares if you suck cause its all good fun.

I dislike Guitar Hero, because you can't upload any songs to it from a CD.

And I freakin' hate Frets on Fire. It doesn't seem to work on laptops...TT_TT

That will be a good day in my opinion when you can upload your own songs (and not have to go through so much crap to do it). I'm tired of waiting for DLC, especially when most of the DLC are songs I don't care for to much

I like rock band cause when you play with your friends it's really fun. GH and RB are meant to be party games I think. RB more fulfilling than playing games like mario party or any other party games. I think rock band is a great party game and should be played in a party. playing RB alone is really boring.

I never called anyone stupid (definitely not your mom), and I paid special attention to that.

And you shouldn't be offended about that, everybody does stupid stuff. I do stupid stuff all the time, right now I'm having an argument with a person that I have never seen about a game that I have never played....that's not something smart.

Do you think that Einstein never did anything stupid?

I'm sure he did, tons of stupid stuff....indirectly helping to build a weapon of mass destruction was incredibly stupid of his part.

Does that make him stupid, of course not, he was a freaking genius.

You have never been in a band, have you? It's not that hard.....I have, a lot of my friends have....and you don't need to try to be the next rock star, you just have fun and play for some people.

And I don't know anything about your guitar playing skills, or how often you practice, or how hard is the song you're trying to play. But taking months in playing a single song.....is way too much, specially if you are not going to play it in public, and you don't have to synchronize with the rest of the band.

Anyway, I was trying to counter argue what you said about learning a song in guitar hero in 5 minutes and taking months to learn one in a real guitar, because I know that it takes weeks, not months....after you have had a proper study of the instrument, obviously....

If you want to keep having this discussion, let's do it by PMs, I think this is enough spamming.
