Hello! I'm looking for uke who are in troubling situations, but never lose their cool in front of the enemy and are always a step ahead of the game. The kind who would think, "Panicking won't help anything. What is my goal now, and how do I get there?"

In addition, the uke's level-headedness should be unexpected to the readers. I don't want a tough guy uke who is taciturn and serious all the time, as it's then no surprise that he'll be taciturn and serious in troubling situations too.

Also! It is important that the seme does not overshadow the uke. If the uke is in-control but the seme is able to manipulate the uke mentally/physically, it takes too much attention away from how awesome the uke is.

Examples:
True Star (Novel) - he finds himself stuck in a relationship deal with a seme who's willing to rape him, and he decides to just accept the situation and work out how to make it benefit him as much as possible. loves this series

Ouji to Kotori - he becomes a slave in a foreign country, but doesn't stress over it; instead, he just looks for any opportunities to escape.

There are probably not too many like the lovely ones above, so the situation that the uke is stuck in doesn't have to be as extreme. I'm open to hetero couples too, if you know of any such fitting manga.

Thanks!

this is the first time I've ever rec'ed anything on this site so sorry if it doesnt quite fit? none of the uke in these are "panicky or naive like most uke"

Hyakujitsu no Bara - dude is a leader/face for an army and in abusive relationship but does his best/remains calm

Lucky Dog 1 Blast - trying to escape from prison, he has a pretty casual attitude on the outside

Vassalord - later on

Yorube Naki Mono - somewhat fits ?

Not sure about non-panicky, but the uke in Feng Yu Jiu Tian eventually just ends up just accepting the situation. If you read the novels Feng Yu Jiu Tian (novel), you can see how the uke gets gradually more clever. He's actually reminiscent of the protagonist from True Star (but Tang Fang is much more mature and less naive).

@cutejebby:
I haven't heard of most of those, so I'll check them out. 🙂

@SilverStorm:
I've been reading the Feng Yu Jiu Tian novel for a while, and I do like it most of the time, but I dislike how Rong Tian overshadows Feng Ming's accomplishments by being so in-control of everything that Feng Ming is like a child in comparison. If not for that, Feng Ming would've made it on my list. >< The series is long though, so I'm holding out hope!

Thanks to both of you!

Any more suggestions?

You always ask for difficult (but interesting!) things...
The only thing to come to mind is Acid Town . Such an unfortunate uke, but very mentally strong. And it's one of my favourite mangas too, pity it isn't completed yet.

Black Outsider might fit. The uke is kinda adorably laid back about the situation.
Koitomo!? not sure if this is suiting for the request but the uke pretty much takes everything in stride when he's able to understand the situation. He gets a bit nervous when he doesn't understand though.

I'm not sure I would count these two as unfortunate though...

Leopard Hakusho despite having a suuuuper overbearing love interest, the uke spends most of the time thinking on his feet.
Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai you don't really get more in control than this guy, but while he's not taciturn, it's no surprise.
Life, Love Probably the most suited towards your request among these.
You're My Loveprize In Viewfinder the situation gets pretty excessive at some point and the uke constantly is unable to fight against the tidal-wave of bs coming his way BUT he never stops trying to fight it.

until they kinda break his spirit at some point, which just breaks my heart ;A; but he does get back on his feet, even after all that

Not sure if any of these are what you're looking for, these are just what your request made me think of ^^;;
