Lol, I got a message from that person too. She claimed that I seemed like an interesting person, therefor she wanted my e-mai so we could get to know eachother better. She/he even wanted to send a picture too me, for some reason? ;p
Either way, I ignored it.

What MUST be scaring us is how people can Access our E-mail addresses from this site. Even if they dont get it from this place... they manage to make a relation to us and it. I got this Email a long while a go(one year or so). I then checked the CP and it didnt say anywhere if my e-mail address was public but when i check other people i dont see theirs so i presume it isnt so... is this "scam" e-mail being sent from one of the admins? i wonder... Does the server have some backdoor some lawless people beein exploiding?
... not flaming the site or their admins here... just saying banning the user without knowing how shem(she/him) manages to get that info and stoping it from happening again its useless as she can just make another account and continue doing it for eternity.

Firstly, I believe the people here who are talking about it all got this message through MU's messaging system, not an email. Are you sure it got sent directly to your email address or that it was the exact same message as everyone was talking about? It might have been an unrelated spam message and nothing to do with this site.
Secondly, the user is probably a bot. It's a rampant problem on a lot of forums and sites and it's not so simple to stop them. As long as the admins are aware of the issue, warn people not to fall for it (but you should really know that if you're even using the internet in the first place, it's not just the admin's responsibility to make people aware of internet scams) and ban the offending accounts immediately, I think that's more than enough. I wouldn't say this is a particularly bad problem here since I don't think I've ever received a spam message on here.
