Would pay to read scanlated manga online if the money was used to license the series?

If it's not only AVAILABLE to US and Canada citizens, maybe. But if not, no. No matter how much I want to support, if I can't read, then it's kinda worthless
I would imagine that if this idea was to take off and become reality then that would be part of the deal. Making the series in multiple languages.

no
because here, noone pays attention to manga anyway
the only mangas you can find(in a few stores only) are deathnote, naruto, bleach and one piece
theres only one manga store over here and the prices are very high
for ONE volume i would have to pay the equivalent of a normal novel
plus noone here even knows of the existence of manhwas
the only way manga readers like me can read mangas and manhwas is through the internet,if that too is gone then we wont be able to read mangas anymore
i know that some mangakas deserve more recognition and attention but im sure there are many readers like me who only have access to mangas through the internetif there were more manga stores and the prices were reasonable i would have happily bought mangas,i already spend alot of money on novels
Not sure how you were reading this, but this idea is NOT an online STORE. It's an ONLINE READER [like Mangafox, and MangaReader]. The idea is that the series on the reader are done by Scanlators and the ONLINE READER SITE itself purchases the licenses in order to allow the scanlators a legal way of doing what they do.
In exchange for letting the site use their scanlations, the site will provide High Quality, direct from the Japanese publisher RAWS to work with. Since I assume that's part of the deal in licensing.
Essentially, everything will be done online [Internet]. You can purchase a volume as they are finished by the scanlators if you want.

What kind of moron would pay to read stuff we can already read free? This question is pointless even if its used as an angle to possibly get more series licensed and continued. Think of a diff way.
Chill out. My goodness.
My view...
I wouldn't pay just because I prefer scanned releases over licensed, published volumes. I don't like what some American manga publishers do (well, mainly Tokyopop, but that's gone now....), but the publishers nowadays are getting much better with their quality, I think. I wouldn't necessarily want to pay for the unlicensed manga series to acquire foreign licenses, but I would buy the actual licensed, released volumes for series if I like what the American publisher did. Just not the licenses.
I wouldn't pay for any online service anyway. That's just how I am.Not sure why people are misunderstanding this... The American Publishers [TokyoPop, VizMedia, etc.] will not be buying the licenses, the Online Reader Site would. They would buy the license for series BEING SCANLATED, then ask the scanlators if they could use their scanlations. So basically you have nothing really changing from now, just that the money earned will go to make scanlation legal.
That's the basic gist of it.
Ohhhh, okay. Sorry for misunderstanding. My answer is still no because I'd only want to pay to read physical volumes, not chapters online.

You are like the dense main character in a shoujo manga.

Another misunderstanding... When a scanlating group is finished with a volume of the series they are scanlating, then there will be an option for the reader to purchase a PHYSICAL copy of the volume by way of "print on demand". Meaning the volumes will be printed as they are ordered.
Basically you can pay for the online reading and then purchase an additional copy of the volume as they become available.

so what your saying is that we have to pay to read the manga by payin for to read each chapters online and then if we want to purchase the volume they scanlated we have to pay for that volume not that i care about money but that's just a waste of money so my answer is no

How is that a waste when the money is going to getting more series "legalized"?

No, if only because I have issues with the censorship done with English copies. I don't want to support companies that censor. It's because of this that I refuse to buy translated manga anymore. I'm going to buy original Japanese copies but since I'm still learning the language I will keep to online.
I wouldn't mind paying to read good scanlations online though as long as it is done legally and will support the mangaka. I know some sites are trying to work with publishers on this.

Ok so your idea is that we have a new manga reading site that we the members pay to read their manga and then they use that payment to help license and continue dropped series and have a few extra gimmicks such as have an option for an additional payment to have a physical copy or volume delivered to your area of residence? Its a nice thought but it wouldnt work. Check every manga site that deals with donations then check the amount of members on each of those sites and do the math to see how many are even donating as a reference for ur idea. Pretty much your idea would maybe be a better reason for people who may already donate or for people who are willing to pay to read but the fact is the number of those types of people just wouldnt hold the site up im afraid. We already have a few sites that try to make you pay to read and they use that money for themselves. We have seen that when we check the notes by Scanlators. My point being is that because of stuff like that even more people would be hesitant to an idea like yours. 🙄
