This week's poll by animgirl24 is about how you mix your hobbies with real life. People tend to gravitate to people with similar interests, so is manga one of those interests? Do you talk about manga with your friends?
You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related)
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903
Previous Poll Results:
Question: Assuming you know perfect Japanese (read, write, speak, listen), would you live in Japan?
Choices:
Yes - votes: 9009 (58.1%)
No - votes: 6314 (40.7%)
Already live in Japan - votes: 180 (1.2%)
There were 15503 total votes.
The poll ended: April 13th 2013
I'm actually surprised by the number of "No" votes. Wouldn't have predicted that beforehand. Probably should had a "Vacation only" option
A just ruler amongst tyrants
Yes, providing family count as friends.
Lose - Opposite of win, to misplace something/someone. e.g. To lose your way, to lose a fight.
Loose - Opposite of tight. e.g. To have a loose screw, to loosen a jar lid.
^ Not just scanlators, but also company documents are getting it wrong now!

No, my real life friends probly don't even know what manga is... Let alone being able to discuss it.
I guess I have a nerd/gaming/manga/sci-fi side with no friends
And a social/party/sport/outdoors/weed smoking side, with the majority (95%) of friends being on this side.
The remaining 5% are miscellaneous.
I do have a few friends who I talk to about manga and anime now and then.
I mainly talk about anime with them rather than manga though.
One of them has really high standards when it comes to anime, and I watch any old trash so we usually have a bit of banter about that XD
But yeah, when it comes to manga, I don't really discuss it with them. It might pop up now and then, but not often.
Are.. are you me?! That's like my exact situation down to the friend with high standards and the banter (He still watches everything though). Only difference is that they're my gaming buddies and we usually talk about games and school.

I couldn't choose an option. Every friend of mine knows that I like manga. But I have never been able to make any of them read any manga. I even tell them the plots as if telling a story, they enjoy the storytelling, but still the idea of a story going on for years doesn't appeal to them.
And I don't have online friends, since chatting bores me.
No available option for me.

There must be a ton of effort involved in order to read manga and still keep it a secret to everyone. Unless people ONLY read it online and only when they are alone.
So yea, I chose the last option just for lulz.

I put we don't really discuss anything.
Although the truth is I don't have any manga reading friends anymore, I used to but I've sadly lost touch with many post high school/ college years. Or in the one case I kept in touch she became to busy with a toddler and divorce and life to really read regularly at least.
But even when did have friends we honestly never talked about it much.

Me and my friend have differing tastes, so sometimes there is overlap, but usually not. Plus she much prefers anime whereas I barely find time to watch anime between all my manga, so we rarely, if ever, discuss it.
The pen is mightier than the sword...and considerably easier to write with.

some of my friends read manga, the problem though is that they only read shoujo manga(sometimes shounen too) so we don't discuss manga at all
I once tried to get one of my friends to read some of my favourite manga but I gave up after she found eden: it's an endless world! dull and uninteresting, I also tried to get her to read oyasumi punpun and liar game, she read the first few chapters of each then dropped them both....go figure.
the weird thing though is that we have identical tastes when it comes to books and movies(which is why I thought that she, of all people, would enjoy reading the manga I like) we only clash when it comes to anime and manga

I actually don't have any friends who read, but they know I do.... So none of the answers quite fit....
Thanks to the Japanese, I have been deprived of any left over paycheck cash since high school.... >.<'
