Help!

I already researched all the good Unis in US for the English major (got the lists off PrincetonReview, ARWU, and a few other sources, and cross refrenced them). None of them except these three offer need-based aid to international students, thoughI will apply to some from the list, as these do offer aid to international students which may be ebough to meet my needs.
I agree many Unis offer the same oppurtunities, but it's the intersection of academic reputation, diverse student body, uber teachers - and some other things that I'm forgetting 😛 - that attracts me to these Unis. And the aid 😀 .
basically, other than selection, aid is the biggested problem. It's very very hard for International students to get aid for UG. BTW I'm in 12th. 12th class started day before yesterday 😛
There are times when you will miss what you never had. I wonder how you will find what you so desperately need.

Edit - It say "Site is offline", I go back to the last page and click submit reply again, and voila, you have a double post. I'll avoid it next time. Sorry.

Okay. Okay... as for diverse student body -- it'll be quite diverse if you choose the "liberal/bigger" states like NY and CA... And there are excellent professors in every school... they do get reviewed, ya know? Unless the professor has tenure (based on his/her research)...

Ooooh... yeah... hmmm... I don't know what to say about financial aid (sorry!!), but what if you tried some of the California universities? The UC system... there are a number of internat'l students who attend, so ask the financial aid office how that works... though after looking around my alma mater I found out that the school doesn't offer finaid for int'l students (sorry!!) and found only these two websites:
http://www.edupass.org/finaid/
http://www.iie.org/
and a PDF that summarizes scholarships available for int'l students...
Yeah... the US college student is understood to be poor and in-debt...
EDIT -- particularly this Schools with Financial Aid for International Undergraduate Students looks useful...
What if you tried applying to school in Norway? 😛 Though I have no idea how int'l students get finaid there... I just know that for their students, the government pretty much pays for them based on what my uncle told me...

I'll look into Norway, then 🙂
Thanks for all your help, with the Uni stuff and the Emo stuff. Honestly, just by talking about it all here, I feel better. I'll be back to square one soon, but it helps.
I'm trying my best for my application, so now all I can do is hope. Kinda hard to do that as I don;t believe in fate or God(s), but hey.
Thanks again.

Yeah, no seriously... it's great to know that you're actively doing something. And it never hurts to ask the source directly. Definitely be polite to people in Financial Aid... don't take their snarky replies to heart (hopefully they write warmer emails). And if anything... find a forum or find someone who is in your similar situation... ask them how they are handling uni funding.
Maybe your school college/uni counselor can help as well? If anything... you can try 1 year of study-abroad. 😀 Explore the world! Yay!

I did ask the sources about the aid, and thankfully no one was snarky (or maybe I just didn't pick up on that 😛 ). Still looking for someone in a similar situation, and let's hope I succeed, but as I said, this is kinda rare here. The only people who go abroad are people from rich families, usually.
And I don't have a counselor of any kind.
Edit - BTW, the second link is very useful. Thanks. Wonder how I missed it. 🤢

Thank my alma mater's FAQs section in Office of FinAid... (and I realized how much I despise searching/getting lost around uni websites... if only it were more intuitive!!)
Holy cow... I should go beddy bed. Good luck with everything, Casey D. Geek!
I surely do hope that someone else on BU can help you with this 😀 Or someone in other forums...

Sigh. I moved a lot in my life. In every place, I always participated in many activites - Drama, Article-writing, Poem-writing, Science Fairs, everything, though not in high school. I indulged in the things I liked, like English language, on my own time. I joined libraries, made my own book clubs, taught myself English in places where the teachers of English-medium schools taught in Hindi, and did many other things. And alas, I can't mention anything in my application under Extra-curriculars. For a student in my circumstances, I've done pretty well. But the admissions officers see apps like mine everyday (not actually, that's a colloqualism)! Things that are big for me are tiny for them 🙁 .
I got nothing. 🤢

THIS sounds like an EXCELLENT way to wow an admissions counselor. Moreover, do speak about how you moved around a lot... shows that you seem open to adapting to different environments. Turn a weakness into a strength, man!! This is pretty impressive in itself.

I'll try to do that with the essays, but I'm still figuring out how to mention these facts in them. Also, does the fact that I went out of my way and researched facts and stories, for lack of a better word, given in my history books count for something?
Edit: Is there anyway to mention the fact that I would love to learn new languages like Japanese and Korean, and participate in extracurricular activities and clubs? 😕
Edit 2: Thanks for your help, guys. I now get most of what you meant. I'm gonna do my best, give it my all, and hope for the best. Depression never helped anybody, did it? 🙂
