Just wanted to update this post with new information. so it turns out that the child is male, and the mother is making him wear dresses because it's cheaper.

This new article is about a different family than the first one - the first family had an older son, who often chose to wear dresses, and then the gender-not-revealed baby; this article is about a woman who has only the one child.

The mom of the first family talked about how her older child's clothing choices sometimes made her uncomfortable, but she went along because she wanted him to be free to choose; this second mom seems to be actively encouraging her son to wear "girly" clothes.

Interesting to read, but not an "update" as it's a completely different family. 🙄

Not to mention the child was a baby in May and the new article is about a 5 year-old 🤣

Sooooo... If the child is physically a girl but decides that she is, in fact, a boy, what public restroom does it use? I mean, restrooms are so discriminatory; how dare they segregate us by gender.

...

Sorry. I'd like to make an intelligent response on this matter. Unfortunately, that's all that came out.

I didn't read all the posts but what I'm getting from the article is to not put a stress on gender. We've made such a large gap between males and females that it has got rather ridiculous. I'm not sure what I think about raising a 'genderless child' but I do think it's an interesting idea. I wonder how I would have grown up if I wasn't tied to the cultural norm that puts girls in dresses and boys in pants.

Not worrying about others opinions does build a sort of confidence. I think it may a bit awkward for the boys when they hit puberty, but that's life.

Raising a genderless child... is something only brainless parents would attempt.
