No idea... but I just have to post saying damn Me and the Devil Blues was great. Great Art, great subject. I wish more of it was scanlated :'( too bad it was dropped by Manga-Heaven or whoever where doing it. It's a manga I would actually buy and I never buy anything.... that can be acquired in some form over the net 😛

I was gonna say Devil Blues straight off when I saw this thread's name, but the minute I saw your avatar I already knew you read it, you've posted about it quite often. 😀
I must admit, that Free Soul does look interesting, I'm adding it to my Wish List.
Anyways, to answer your question...
Sho Nuff I Do, a short one-shot about people discussing the Blues guitarist Elmore James. Not a classic, but sime nice art and strage ending.
Unfortunately that's all that comes to mind. Shame there isn't anymore (that I know of), I'd love to see a manga that represents Blues or Jazz the same way Devil Blues does.

I take it he's good then? I've only started listening to Blues. I thought I might get into the Delta Bluesmen first, like Robert Johnson and Lightnin' Hopkins. Where should I go next?

It's actually difficult for most people to start in the delta. Lightnin Hopkins also falls under the catagories of Juke Joint/Texas blues/Early Electric Blues.

I would need to know where you're coming from in terms of what you already listen to.

Like, for instance, I would recommend Down and Cream and early Led Zep to a metal head that wanted to get into blues. Then have them work into John Mayall and the Blues Breakers, then to Freddie King, Albert King, BB King, and Buddy Guy, and the bounce back up to Stevie Ray Vaughan and ZZ Top. Then maybe some Gov't Mule and Derek Trucks, then back down to the Allman Brothers and then back down to Elmore James, Howlin Wolf, Muddy Waters, and John Lee Hooker.

You have to really, really love blues to get into the real delta stuff, like Son House, Charley Patton, Blind Willie Johnson, Mississippi John Hurt, Skip James, Furry Lewis, etc.

Well, to be honest, I listen to nearly any type and genre of music, so I don't mind if the new music I listen to is totally different from anything else I've heard before. I already like Johnson's stuff, and that's the really old stuff right? I'd preferably like to start with the older Blues, and then work my way up to the newer stuff.
Though you're the Blues expert here, so whatever you think I'd be better off listening to first... 😀
