In respects to modern music, what is the most influential band ever?

I voted Beatles, but Zeppelin would have been second, mostly because I am quite partial to Beatles music. I also luvz Queen long timez tho don't think they're as influential.

To tell the truth, I haven't listened to any of the listed bands at least once. To me there is no one band that greatly influenced me. It's more like all of the bands that I have listened to have influenced me in their own way.

The Beatles, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Who, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, The Yardbirds/Cream, and Bob Dylan.

Most influential punk band bar none would have to be the Ramones tho.

Take your pick. Bob Dylan and Chuck Berry influenced Jimi Hendrix, but Jimi Hendrix paved the way for the Heavy Metal, Metal, and Rock and Roll genres. And well Eric Clapton is just Eric Clapton.

I love the Who, I also think Simon and Garfunkel should be included in this.

Beatles fool, that's a worst faux pas than the pessimistic/optimistic thing.
Respect just shrunk:

RHCP, they have been around for quite some time, and unlike most they have continued to be able to adapt to the changing tastes in music.

Ah well sorry, but Beatles are awsome so I get a bit touchy about insults to them, but seriously yes i can expect quite a lot more, me being a 10th grader, I went through 8th not so long ago.

I was thinking of putting the Who up there, but you don't really hear many people doing Who covers. And I didn't put the Ramones up there because they were Heavily influenced by The Beatles and The Beach Boys. The RHCP is an off shoot of Funkadelic type music mixed with Black Flag type aggression. Metallica created a new genre. So did Sabbath.

But my vote goes to Chuck Berry.

Since most bands made their greatest hits under the influence of drugs, I say drugs have been the most influential thing in music. 😛

Other than that, I vote Metallica!!!
