I dare say One Piece IS the best shounen Manga up to date...
considering plot and character design & world design, naruto bleach co are just a bad joke campared to OP. i dont compare the quality/style of art since it differs from person to person.
i think only HxH is nearly on the same lvl as OP, but HxH is n hiatus so i ll leave it for now..

I only hope Oda is capable of keeping the great quality of OP till the end.. else the 1k chapters will be in vain..

The worst case would be Oda cant finish it due to illness or some kind of accident, which would be so damn f***ing frustating

well, but assuming by what Oda-sensei said that till this point one piece had reach a half story,
so it will be more 600 chapter in next 10 years.
i hope Oda keep his health....

^Hahaha... I don't want to jinx it but I do want to pray for his good health.

I think one of One Piece charms is that it's light-hearted but exciting at the same time. I believe that it's true that there are probably 'better' manga out there in terms of art, story, or whatever it may be. But One Piece is interesting... consistently interesting... And it's always getting better, even after 600 chapters.

I will definitely follow this series all the way to the end. Even if it's 10 years or 20 years from now on.

Oh right, I forgot to mention. One indicator of how popular OP is in Japan (other than the sales figure), there's a guy called Sanma-san (a very popular Japanese comedian) who refers himself as Luffy when he appeared on a Japanese game show because he was the leader of his team. He also mentioned Chopper. Also, there's a female singer group called Perfume (very popular in Japan) and one of the members really love One Piece. She even mentioned in a talk show that the person she wanted to meet the most and idolized right now is Oda Eiichiro. 🙂

Hmm, you mean internationally?
I guess it's because of the Japanese theme. Bleach has shinigami wearing black kimono and uses katana. I guess that appeals more to western or international audiences, same as Naruto being a ninja. I don't know though, it's just my opinion. Some people say it's the art, but again I don't know.

I was exposed to One Piece much earlier than Bleach or Naruto. I was already a One Piece fan (although not yet hardcore) before I even knew Naruto and Bleach, so I couldn't really give an objective opinions.
