We never really seen him fight so it's possible

I do believe that there was some mention of him being like 100 years too young for one too... it may have been when Mihawk delivered Luffys first bounty... I might be just imagining things... its been a long day

no he doesnt have a devil fruit because remember when he saved luffy from the shark. if he had one he would have drowned too. maybe he ate one after that but i dont think thats likely.

If we look at blackbeard, he said whoever finds the fruit has the right to eat it.

If we were to look at how Shanks came back to the new world with no arm that means by then he is already very well known.

Maybe without his arm he needs a fruit to stay on top of things.

Bottom line if we never see him fight then probably no fruit if we do see him fight probably fruit.

It was just an unspoken agreement among Whitebeard's crew that whoever found a fruit could eat it. Thatch did not eat the yami yami no mi, meaning that he did not want to or just not then
Also, its said that Shanks losing an arm did not weaken him in any way

Which reminds me, was Shanks already a Yonkou in chapter 1?

Things are a bit different in East Blue, though. In that sea, there are a lot of people who didn't believe in devil fruits... despite most (all of the admirals) of the leaders of the world government military being devil fruit users.
