Really, I have read this manga twice and i absolutely love it! It had my heart held down with a feeling a dread and the ending was one of the most satisfying endings ( I thought it was lovely ). The artist goes either pretty or ugly with her characters, its kinda like a foreshadowing and extra insight thing that I love. It was well worth the read!

How stupid can a character be? Seriously. The start is really good, the main lead working towards survival of the whole group. But somewhere in the middle for some reason he got really stupid and allowed the villain to get the better of him over and over again. For god's sake this is a survival manga! If you are stupid enough to forgive enemies who abandoned you and your companions into a corner to starve, then sure as hell you're not fit to be their leader.
I also think that somewhere in the middle the characters' behavior suddenly became unrealistic. I mean, if you were in that situation I'm pretty sure you won't act as stupid as them. I know, I know, this is a manga, but oh well.

It was enjoyable to read, but it was average. The characters are flat and predictable - they each have their little role and they stick fully to it. If you've read any disaster survival story before you'll pretty much know how it goes, only with added manga-silliness. You can probably find something better to read without much effort, but if you have a particular reason for wanting to read this sort of story then it shouldn't hurt.
Amazing.

This series was absolutely great. It was gripping and suspenseful. Very realistic, especially with the characters.
I think I would've liked a little more back story on Sachi's life, but whatever.
Gotta read the rest of FUJISAWA Yuki's works.
Highly recommended.

Best 2 hours i've spent staying up reading random manga in a while.
I like how Mishima doesnt become super protaganist in the heat of the moment but struggles to stay calm and collected. Though i wish Sachi had more depth in the end, i was not disappointed by the ending.
This has given me a slight taste of the real world and i hope to carry it with me for years to come.

This book.. is the best. It shows how people can be when desperate, showing the ugly colours of human beings.
Satiristic, a bit?
It's so.. sad; angering; disappointing; emotional; happy; scary; hopeful.. all jumbled into one..
If you liked the intensity of Bloody Monday, you would freakin LOVE this one!!

The theme is basic. Disaster strikes and a bunch of strangers are forced to co-operate in order to survive. The characters are also the regular types mostly found in stories like these (though the Mikayamas (?) are awesome). The one who takes action, the [leader's opposite sex] supporter, the whiners/criers, the little kid, the Darwin-survivalists (often douchebags even before).
But I really can't see it happening with any other people. They're all just people with emotions that we all share. The major difference between the characters is which emotion they allow to take control.
Again, like most survival-stories, this is also heavily focused on fear, instincts and what each man is willing to sacrifice to survive. This is always where a story like this makes or breaks.
And it worked out quite well. I felt it could be longer, though. Fleshing out the characters is never a bad thing. But don't get me wrong. It actually worked being shallow as well. Heh.
Definately worth a read.

A very intense and grim story about a group of people trapped underground in a subway station after a major earthquake.
In their struggles to survive while hoping for rescue, their biggest threat may be the other members of the group rather than the hardships of their underground existance.
Despite the girl's image on the cover of both volumes, this is not ecchi or erotic in any way. I added mature to the list of genres because there's a fair amount of the dark side of human nature in this story, as well as violence, gore, and brutal and abusive behavior.
