Description
In order to protect his people from attacking demons, Prince Val uses a demonic sword and curses himself in the process. He leaves his kingdom to find a cure, and his search leads him to Hallwil, the person rumored to be the only one who knows how to break the curse. Hallwil agrees to help Val... for a price.

Not exaggerating. Honestly, the art is HEAVENLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The alter ego, slow romance..the story line was just fantastic!

I wasn't keen on reading it at first because of Yamane's previous work, View Finder. It was so violent that I had given up hope on this author. My friend suggested this one and god bless her, I came across the manga with the best art ever! I mean it coz I have read close to a thousand mangas, heck I was born to read mangas bigrazz

I judiciously check for new updates every now and then, I really hoppe they speed it up, can't wait for more!

SERIOUSLY! This was the first yaoi I read (probably not that best to start with but what can you do?) but this made me love the genre. This will always be my favorite manga, not just yaoi. It has everything, but read it for yourself to know!

ookay just finished reading all of em and... OMG.. that's just HOT HOT like HELL!! just the way i like it. it seems that the story is still... far from finish judging from the latest chapter that i read ( 34) and....i reeealllyyy hope that this is ended up happy for Val and Hall O__O really want to see the end of the manga....GREAT STORY!!!

Great art, pretty good sex, and I like all of the characters. Not as good as Finder though, as that plot made sense, and the cheap sexual plot devices were woven in a way that didn't make me go WTF ?? in that one. *cough cough Tentacle rape* (Thought that crap was only in hentai for guys?!?! Getting raped by nature is creepy, not hot.) The Uke can sometimes be almost Seme-like, and vice-versa, so their roles aren't completely set in stone. Interesting plot for a yaoi, but I really don't know what's going on it's so slapped together. Not bad, worth a try. Not wel planned out, but still like it nonetheless.

For those who are saying that this doesn't even have a plot then ur are blind or not even reading the same series. As for me Love Hal and Val. I actually love all the characters in this one espcially the creature that always on val's shoulder.

Love the comdey, love the love /compaion relatioship bewteen val and hal, love the mysterious demob side and spells that lie in store for val.

This is definitely my favorite yaoi series if I'd have to name one. Plot? Check. (There is I tell you! It might be a bit confusing though...) Awesome characters? Check!! Gorgeous art? Double check! I personally like fantasy as a genre so that's a plus.

When I first started reading this I thought "whoa this is sooo smutty" but you get used to it... And even the smuttyness is kind of funny in an entertaining way. Not to mention hawt... *slurp*

And oh my god the characters!! The characters are what really make this story. Havi is my favorite seme of all time. He's everything wrapped up in one neat package. Good looking, love love love the long hair! I actually developed a long hair fetish when it comes to manga men after starting this. And I despize long haired men in real life.. Weird. But he's just so amazing! Compared to the typical stoic seme, I really like how he shows emotion on his face, I even remember scenes where he had these blush spots drawn on his cheeks like a doll! biggrin Havi's such a funny character too but the comedy doesn't take away from how cool he is either, amazingly. (Most funny semes are just clowns to me...) And as for the relationship, right from the beginning I thought it was so cute how he was obviously smitten with Vald though he was kinda antisocial. I think the devotion there is so sweet.

And points for Vald for being a strong uke! Havi is the one being saved just as many times as Vald in this story! smile Also, despite the whole thing with the beast Vald, the human Vald is actually the one coming on to Havi in the end, I think... And I love it how, so far at least, Havi seems to respect human Vald's sensibilities. It's not as much forcing or rape in this manga as it is sexual abuse.. Not sure if that's any better though. He he...

Someone said Vald's naïvete isn't believable but I kinda think it is. I mean, he's a prince right? So it fits... I actually think Vald has quite a lot of personality rather than being just a standard uke. He's not as complex as Havi though...

As plot goes I think this is a manga you can't just skim through or you'll really be lost. I've read it more than once and it all seems logical to me now but in looking back I think you really need to focus when reading this. I disagree that the original quest has been forgotten, they're still trying to break the curse. All they've been doing so far is trying to find out how it is to be done...

I do think all the info on the numerous side characters is confusing but I'm sure it'll all come together soon. And if there wasn't any previous discussion on them then whatever will happen in the future regarding those characters would probably seem really random... So it's better this way

I for one think the plot is intricate and amazing. Complexity is good! And it gets better in terms of originality from the initial setting though even the description "Hallwil agrees to help Val... for a price" is complete misleading bull... It's not that cliché!!

I'd recommend this to anyone and everyone that's not squeamish about the explicit sex. Though I have to say I've actually enjoyed that a lot too. Maybe it's because the art is so pretty. No matter what kind of obscenities Ayano-sensei draws I'll probably think it looks nice! And this isn't as bad as the Finder series... Though I must admit that the later scenes have been a lot better. The kissing is so sensual.

Well, all in all, I really have nothing bad to say really. Can't wait for more!!!

If I wasn't such a fan of this author's other works, I would have stopped my self-torture long ago and dropped this manga in its early chapters. Instead, I for some reason that's even beyond me keep reading along and getting the accompanying bad-plot headaches each time.

First of all, anyone that thinks this plot is any more a real fantasy story is along the lines of thinking that Twilight is the mother of all vampire novels. This "fantasy" story makes Harry Potter look sophisticated and creative. Basically, the story starts out on a quest but the characters quickly forget their quest as they get lost in the romance and butt-loving. Lots of copulation, professions of love, and life-and-death situations engineered to further the main pairing's relationship rather than further the actual plot.

The plot of this manga is definitely "reactionary" rather than "forward looking". Every few chapters, they meet some new enemy/challenged pulled out of nowhere that distracts rather than helps them in the original quest. The cities and the challenges don't connect to each other well either, and the arcs are very disorganized, disjointed, and confusing. I mean, Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle world hopping was less disjointed than the mere city hopping of this manga.

Other parts of this manga classify it into shallow romance BL manga format rather than fantasy BL manga with plot: 1) the introduction of too many pretty minor characters who don't contribute anything and don't have interesting personalities or backstories, 2) the serious lack of good females or females in general, 3) laughable battle scenes which take only a few pages to wrap up whereas each intimate scene is treated to much more screen time.

Don't come in here looking for plot because you'll just get eye-candy and smut. Her other work, Viewfinder had a more coherent plot than this (although Val is arguably a stronger character than damsel-in-distress Akihito). If you enjoy smut and PWP only, you'll have a great time reading this.

If you want BL manga that does actually have a plot with male/male romance as a bonus side dish, definitely check out Border or the very old school Tokyo Babylon. Or, some slashable fun ones: di(e)ce, Togainu no Chi, and (if your heart can handle it) the beautiful No. 6 (T_T)

I, for one, though really hope this manga concludes soon so the author will start up a better series.

So, I give the characters an 8/10 because they have pretty nice chemistry and are pretty interesting. They kept me entertained even as I was hopelessly lost inside the chaos that was the plot and the setting. I have little patience for fantasy (bleh), and this one was all over the map. I have no idea who was doing what, why they were doing it, and what any of the magic stuff was. I'm not even sure what the main plot was (other than the sex - that one I got loud and clear). It was all, "Go through the magic woods to find the demon berry behind the mystic waterfall of darkness." Ew.

Don't read it for the plot unless you like the whole sword and sorcery thing. If you're like me and that kind of thing makes you nauseous, this is still a nice fluff read (if you don't go insane from the weird magic stuff) with pretty boys in it. I give it a 7/10 - it would have been higher if the plot wasn't so stupid and it would have been lower if the writing wasn't pretty good. It's not badly written necessarily - it's just basically girl porn. wink

And for the love of all things holy, DO NOT read those little 'what happens next' blurbs at the bottom of the page! You'll lose your lunch.

But, I loved when Havi called Val out on his 'half-baked self-sacrifices." LOL! So true! Irritating...

Another best story by My all time fav yaoi author. Techincally this series brings u in a whole new meaning to fanstay. O.O especially the....sorry can't say. But love the story, love the arteork and love the fanstic comedy behind thesr loveable characters and nice happy scene especially in ch 20. Must read.
