4 Volumes (Complete)

Only positive: the art was cute.
There are some minor spoilers below for the first couple of chapters.
The very first page of this series starts out with this line: "There is one pain in a girl's life that there's no way to escape. A pain you can't experience except with the person you love." She talkin' 'bout the smex. The art beneath that line is her naked and blushing with her eyes closed beneath a male body. I'm screeching, at this point.
Then the two main characters meet when she lands on top of him after a fall, with her cooch on his face, somehow. Is this supposed to be cute? Funny? How is he not bleeding? Isn't that concrete? Is her cooch okay? Asking the important questions here.
He's introduced by other girls providing the Exposition through their gossiping ways (teen girls, duhhh), while the main character looks on with a smile and says she knows him because he takes his dog to her family's vet office. I. So many tropes so little time.
She opens the door to the school roof and catches her crush and Random Harlot #1 about to do the dirty, as seen through a zoom-in on Harlot #1's bra. Cue "kya!" and kabedon as the dude slams on hand against the wall above the MC, and the other over her mouth. MC gets called an oppressed virgin, dude walks off with a smirk, and Harlot #1 is left disheveled on the floor, to disappear from this story bc she has served her purpose as the wh*re foil to the MC's Pure Madonna.
Next comes a scene she tells him off for being a "love virgin", which is actually kinda cute. But then the author follows it up with a "Stun, Shock, No One Has Ever" expression from the male lead. And then he shows up at the vet to pick up his dog - cue the shoujo-typica "he's so good with animals!!" scene.
And then she walks him home, for some reason, to his luxury apartment complex. Bc he's rich. Whoopty-do.
Cue her foLLOWING him into his apartment and then more kabedons and a "why do you have pretty eyes...i didn't want it, it's forbidden, yet...my heart could not refuse it" while he tries to kiss her. I'm gagging at this point.
Then she rejects him, and this is a turn-on, so of course he now wants her as more than a sefure. Asdfghkkjl.
The first chapter ends with this voiceover: "...the first of many 'firsts' the day I started running towards that sweet pain." Presumably as a parallel to the beginning and referencing losing her virginity.
Honestly, if this walkthrough I gave you didn't have you gagging or screeching, then go ahead and read the series, as we obviously are very different breeds of Reader. Otherwise, I have to say I wouldn't even be able to rec this to friends with the highest of tolerances for misogynistic tropes.
The focus on virginity/purity and the lack of originality when it comes to the characters/plot just...pain me.
If you're already familiar with Chiba-sama's works, you know she's got the art part down pat. This story though delivers a power packed punch of tempestuous love, stirred in the heart of a lawless lothario who is anything but a prince, by our strong willed and no nonsense heroine Sasa chan!
If you're looking for a strong but soft heroine who tames a roaming playboy, look no further. I personally loved the way the story kept me engaged! I thought it was going to zig, and it zagged. I thought "Oh now she'll look teary eyes and succumb to his charms" and she brushes him off! You're on your toes with this story and that's never not desirable in a shoujo romance!
Loved the sass, loved the shy mood it starts off with and love the direction it seems to be taking (till chapter 1 that is.)
Dialogues and delivery is sharp, witty and unique. Very realistic in its character portrayal, tries to give both leads layers beyond their external demeanour, though that doesn't really add up so far. It's especially cool because while the heroine is constantly aware of her physical and emotional longing, she doesn't rescind her resentment towards the questionable morals with Kaneda Senpai constantly exhibits!
Unlike most stories which start off great with plenty of snark to spare but within an incident or two, the teeth and edge are lost and the heroine's resolve turn to jelly as though struck with a harry potter hex, this story seems to be going strong. Again I'm only at chapter 1, so I'll save the praise for when further chapters are released, but it shows promise right now.
