this manga is sophisticated, romantic to the appropriate extend, funny, balanced, smart, interesting, and so much more...the relationships are very well-developed...the characters were explored in each of their own way, so that in the end, you can't help but love them all (even the bastardly antagonist)....it's mellow, strong, sad, joyous, and completed on so many levels.....this is one of those manga that once finished, you have to let out a satisfying sigh, feeling completely full-filled, yet still lingering a sense of wanting for more.....this just an amazing manga....one of the rare fews that actually teaches you something about life....

the reality and heavy topics really got me.
there were funny moments,
the heavier stuff always seemed to weigh it down,
making it the perfect balance.
it started out just like any other manga,
but every volume stacked up the goodness,
making it worthwhile.

I couldn't get past the first major arc

I liked it, but I didn't get past the first arc, with that chick from the past and his twin brother. It was just plain annoying. The story would conclude that this was what happened, and make you think it was the end of that, but then it just keeps adding and adding on. For example, instead of just telling us the ONE *real* reason of what happened/who killed his twin, it was just layers. First, it was an accident. Then it was the chick from the past. Then it was suicide. Then it was Rei. OK!!!!!!! Get on with it already!
If someone spoils me and tells me the later arcs are not like that then maybe I will pick this up again. But jesus, it was just annoying.

It's pure love from the beginning to the end.

The author portraits with maestry the universve that we confine inside ourselves... and with extreme accurateness, she captures the subtilty of the nuances of a human soul... Our fears, our desires, the secrets we don't confess even to ourselves... our selfishness, our lack of humanity and our need for love and salvation...

Whoever start reading this story, will get deeply attached to the main characters, a kind soul and a troublemaker: the perfect couple. We might think at the beginning that Rei is the one protecting Kira, but when you read this, you realize that Rei is the one asking for redemption.

It's pure love from the beginning to the end.

A deppley intriuging and moving manga. The mangaka deals with some difficult and confronting issues, whilst still keeping the flow of the story. I was unhappy with the flow and the focus on Rei round about volume 5... but then kira soon got her chance in the lime light so i was happy!

I laughed, i cried, i recommend it!

MARS was great, but it felt like it went on too long, and the ending was waaay too abrupt. I liked it and all, but there was just... something... that kept it from being perfect, as far as I'm concerned at least.

I guess i did it backwards and saw the drama first a couple of years ago, but i really enjoyed it then and i was glad to see that it followed the manga entirely. Perhaps it was because at the time i was in the mood that i was able to cope with all the drama this manga involves so i was pretty prepared while reading it. I really like most of the mangaka's work so it was no surprise this was a good read.

this is another one of my favorites. I like how you get to see characters develop and deal with their issues. It deals with a lot of emotions which I thought was one of the reason i wanted to keep reading. I really liked the characters too. haha

I really enjoyed the story form the beginning till the end, there was a point when i was disappointed at the flow of the story but soon I forgot about it and sank into the story again the ending was great too not to mention that in the end was a really umm stressing part so for a minute I thought that the ending is not going to be what expected though some times its good I dont think the manga would have left me with the same warm feeling I have now if the ending was different.
I think that every body that love shoujo stories should read this one and enjoy it as I did.

thanks for the attention,

Alisa

A simple story, like many others

I am in middle of reading the 9th volume. so far based on what I have sensed through reading it, I can say "Mars" isn't very special or unique story. the main plot has the same twists and turns that I have seen in many other Shoujo's before and it is nothing even close to new. of course it is true that the story has some potentials and the character building is well done but it doesn't turn this series into a master piece. still there are many necessary elements which missing or disturbing the flow of the story, like the character of the Kira which is supposed to act like a connecting link but because the writer insists on showing her as a defenseless, cute victim, it has lost its influence and power most of the times.

Rei is the best character in the story. he is truly alive and you can feel his sadness, love, pain and anger like these emotions are yours. I seriously hope the ending doesn't disappoint me.
