rushed and unresolved

As others have said, this manga was interesting at the beginning, and had a lot potential. It started to deviate, I'd say, around vol 3 and sped up to accommodate the main plot... which in the end wasn't much of a plot. There were several subplot points that were either summarily killed in the process or never resolved at all. I personally suspected it would be like that, since it's 8 volumes and the plot SEEMED complex, but, as expected, was pretty much abandoned. So, although it started out interesting, there's no resolution whatsoever. Romance, revenge, subplots with the arms dealer, the Yakuza, and others... just dropped at the very end. This should have gone on for another 5 books at the least, but we have what we have. Read it for interesting characterization, and if you're looking for something violent and short.

It had so much promise...

It had so much promise when it started out: character development, plot development, tight pacing, etc. However, the manga sort of went on a dive and turned into some cheesy romance which was lackluster and eh, the ending was so abrupt, it made no sense at all.

Nevertheless, it's still worth a read. Though, if you're looking for something more concrete but with similar qualities, try Seizon - Life.

Depending on your tastes you can find this manga interesting (in the beginning I did), but the lack of originality and the ridiculous and abrupt "ending" make this story one of the worst I´ve ever read.

Good, but could be better.

At first, this manga promises to be a fascinating look at one man's unconventional and self-made morality, as well as a study of how an intelligent law student ended up as part of the mafia. I was hooked right from the start, but was ultimately disappointed by the abrupt (and, in my opinion, unnecessarily romantic) ending. Kawaguchi Kaiji could've respected his story enough to give it a fitting and well-timed ending.

That said, "Araragi Express" is definitely worth the read. Just don't expect all those tantalizing sub-plots to be resolved, is all.
