First of all, I actually *like* Seo Kouji's works, so I'm not one of these people bashing this just because they're mad about Kimi no Iru Machi or something.

That said, this particular series really rubs me the wrong way. It reads like blatant wish fulfillment. Dorky guy just happens to be childhood friends with a super popular idol, becomes friends with a cute girl at school (who just happens to be the daughter of the protagonists in Suzuka) who just happens to want to be like that same idol, goes to a summer job and just happens to become acquainted with the band he's always liked, puts on a school concert and some big American pop start just happens to be passing by (seriously, at a Japanese high that happens). Come on...

I can accept one 'just happens' in any manga. They're often necessary plot devices to get things going. But this series just tosses out one after another without the slightest appreciation for how absurdly unrealistic it all is. It's both lazy writing and makes the whole manga just too hard to swallow. It seriously needs to be grounded but at this point I feel like it's already too late to be salvaged. Even though it's still early in the series the roots of the problems go all the way down to the very premise.

I can't relate anything in this manga...

I can only count a handful of good love romance stories written for the male audience, and i mean a love story, not that harem ecchi action garbage everywhere. Seo kouji kinda dropped the ball on kimi no iru machi, but it was a good attempt to build on the genre of real romances written for shounen.

The art is really good, typical of seo kouji, and the story early on brings in many memorable moments from suzuka. But the story definitely takes a different direction, which gets established early on after thr first few introductory chapters.

This is not highschool drama queen jumping baka version 2, but it flashes potential all the good core elements that made seo kouji's romances so popular. But its not without its flaws.. If you can endure the inevitable love triangles, misunderstandings, indecisive protagionist, slow romance development, and chapters of heartbreak that are typical of seo kouji, this may turn out to be a masterpiece at the end, we will see.

Looking forward to seeing

I thought the art looked familiar. First off, I'll start by saying that the description is totally lacking. A chick breaks his phone, so see where it goes from there? Nowhere interesting, I'm sure. Seeing how this mangaka made the never-ending, indecisive garbage dump that is Kimi no Iru Machi, I can only expect the same from this series. Just looking at the categories I can see that disgusting complexes and triangles abound. Even if I was wrong in that assumption, it's still just so boring that my 9-year-old nephew can make a more interesting plot. You can basically tell what's going to happen pages down the line. Just another generic piece of trash I gave the time of day to try out. Also, misunderstandings aren't funny, especially in another language. A bland romance about a school idol. I never see anything original anymore. Everything is just a rehash. Less and less manga worth reading...

typical harem, unrealistic plot, indecisive dude that has no balls and a totally predictable ending as to whom will be the one he finally settles down with. It's not best to get too excited about this, it may even be axed in the end because it just continues to be the same shit.
However, I hope that doesn't happen because the ending is always beautiful lol
P.S. Seo Kouji's art just continues to improve, that's a good thing, at least.

I continue to read this out of some weird loyalty to Seo Kouji, like how I continued to read Kimi no Iru Machi in the last 100 or so chapters of its serialization. It ties in to both KNIM (slightly, as it used the final chapter as a pseudo backdoor pilot) and is a "sequel" to Suzuka, in that the main heroine, Fuuka, is the daughter of Yamato and Suzuka.

As always, Seo's art style is great and has only become sharper and sharper. Characters and environments are drawn splendidly. The first chapter has an extremely well-done color version. Fuuka, in particular, is the splitting image of Suzuka but has a personality that shows she is indeed her parents' child, ranging from moody to cheery. As a heroine, she's fun to follow. The side character Mikasa is one of the least tropey characters I've seen in a while, acting like one of those charming rivals in a shoujo manga, but, well, is gay. Unlike many other gay portrayals, he's neither flamboyantly so nor gay for humor's sake.

Easily, the weakest point is Yuu Haruna, the main character. A whiny, shy kid, he gives me the impression that Haruto (MC of KNIM) gave me, and just doesn't improve. He's also obsessed with Twitter, too. It's really silly.

Right now, the manga is OK, but not great. It's not as good as KNIM when it started, but certainly not as bad as it ended up. I doubt that this manga will surpass Suzuka, easily Seo's best work.

its always the same all works of seo kouji are all the same the boys fall in love with her at the destined first meeting or if not theyll most likely be enemies first then eventually be together and live happily ever after that how all seo koujis works are ITS ALWAYS THE MAIN HEROINE THAT WINS!!! >_> its just too predictable that youll get bored

and of all seo koujis works he always puts a crossover of all of his works which are the only thing i like in his works

How can people NOT compare it to Suzuka?

Sure, Fuuka tells us a self-contained story. But make no mistake, this is a SEQUEL. Reading entirely the Prequel not only is highly recommended, but it'll reveal the many flaws of the sequel.

If Seo Kouji, didn't want this to be compared with the prequel, he would have made a Brand New IP, Like Half & Half or Princess Lucia. And even then, it would be compared to his other works in terms of character connection (like Kimi no Iru Machi).

You can see it in terms of Story Telling that Kouji himself knows NOTHING of the topic at hand (Music), he's throwing all his experience in the Shounen Romance department, making his own music spin and hoping for the best.

The characters are carbon copy of classic manga/anime clichés. Not much to say really, It would be really good if i could, but i can't. Everything you'll see here, was already made and done before thousands of times in many different works in different medias (Manga, Light Novels, Anime, Visual Novels, you name it)

Overall i give this manga a 5. Mediocre. Not exactly bad, but not very good either. Fans of the genre will still like it of course.

Please stop comparing to suzuka. Yes it's the sequel, but it's not the same type.
- It's not as dramatic as suzuka, it is more of a heartfelt, chapter-paced creation of a cute couple (or so it seem right now...)
So in terms of readers, I believe that those who only seek relation development will like it while does who enjoy seing something more realistic might prefer going back to Suzuka.
I personnally prefer Fuuka as it doesn't feel as complicated as Suzuka.

yes she is suzuka asahina and yamato akitsuki's daughter....the story n character r a bit cliche but u can just read it if u got nothing better every week. not a manga that holds your interest to read chapter after chapter, but just a light read. Don't expect or look too deep into it.

always spoils the end of the manga in the case of SEO Kouji. Not to mention this is going to turn out to be another idol/singing manga going by the current turn of events. While usually the main characters in Kouji manga would have a redeeming quality or something good about them, this time the guy is a typical good for nothing shounen ridden cliche and if that wasn't enough he even whines about his stupidity on twitter. To add insult to injury the female lead punches/kicks/abuses the main character and yet the guy fell for her at first sight. As if all those cliches weren't enough we even have a famous singer who was the male protagonists childhood friend who still loves him but he's oblivious to Amazingly all this crap has happened within just 11 chapters. Long story short, don't waste your time on this.
