This was suffocating.

This was definitely a mature shoujo and I wasn't feeling it. I thought the first volume was promising, but the rest of it was just endless frustration. It just got worse and worse as the story continued.

This enraged me. Nothing makes me angrier than
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
characters that stray romantically. And this manga was full of that. I wanted sunshine and rainbows. Instead I got the urge to punch. UGHHH.

At first, I wanted to punch Ono. He was scum.
Then I wanted to punch Madoka.
Then I wanted to beat the daylights out of Tomoyo. (BOY, WHAT WAS GOING THROUGH YOUR DANG BRAIN AFTER THE TIME SKIP?!?)
Then I just wanted to smash all of the characters in sight. Madoka's stupid Dad, Madoka's gossiping friends, Tomoyo's uppity mom, that one wavy haired girl whose purpose was only to be a hindrance to love. No one was safe from my ire. They seriously angered me. I don't think I've been this angry reading manga in a long time.

If you asked me: "would you rather:
A) Read a frustrating story with a happy ending, or
B) Read a fun story with a frustrating ending,"
I now know that my answer is 100% B. This story fell into category A and it drove me insane.

This gets 3 pity points from me. One for competent art. Another for a heroine that isn't a doormat. And another because I actually managed to finish it.

I hope I can avoid stories like this in the future.

Had potential but sadly threw it away for nonsensical characters

The series is about a girl who's parents won 1 million dollars in lottery. Now they will make their dream of wanting to become doctors real. So they are leaving there kid in some strangers house and moving away to study. Now the daughter has to deal with the mom who is a bitch, the son who doesn't want her there and the father who likes to think she doesn't exist.

If you couldn't tell she has shit parents. In fact majority of the characters here are kinda shit.

I originally enjoyed this series. The main heroine and the main hero were pretty decent. I thought the main hero was kind fine. Though i did originally dislike him as well. To be fair though i disliked pretty much every character at least originally. The actually kinda liked why the FMC fell for the MMC here. She makes fun of him with her friends saying stuff like she doesn't like the overly popular boys but also hates herself because she doesn't want to admit that she fell in love with the same boy for the same reasons as everyone else. She felt less special but in a good way. Like more relatable in a sense.

Sadly though everything around the main character is a shitshow. The series was still enjoyable though on a mininum level but after the timeskip it just became much worse. Though some characters did get character development and did become more likable they were just too many garbage characters in the series. One of the worse ones was actually the father. Who i shit you not, leaves his wife, has an affair and takes away all their money. What the fuck

Its quite sad too because the author really knew how to draw a woman in love, but too many shit characters just ruin the series. I did like the ending but the last couple pages i did not like.

TLDR: Shitty side characters. Too many shitty side characters. Despite lovable Heroine. 4/10

Mature Themes
by Divina=^.^=

A shoujo demographic manga that reads very much like a good josei. It deals with many mature themes, such as "breaks" in married life, loneliness, infatuation vs. having true comfort and friendship in a relationship, estrangement, as well as some psychological issues. Throughout all this, the overwhelming feeling this manga gives off is one of tenderness and warmth. It goes straight to the heart without much funfair or cutesy scenes. In short, it feels real. I heartily recommend it, especially if you are bored of reading the same old, same old high school stories.

I liked this overall, but...

there were quite a few characters I hated with a passion. The male and female leads were good, but they were surrounded by terrible people.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Madoka - I liked her, but she was kinda fickle and cruel. She dates Tomoyo and while dating him, she falls for Ono. She told Tomoyo she only saw him as a little brother and broke up with him. She likes Ono and then gets over him. Then she realizes she loves Tomoyo and has to deal with the fact that he's with someone else. Well, it's kind of her own fault all this happens because of her fickle feelings. She looked super cute with short hair in the second half.

Tomoyo - I liked Tomoyo. He was pretty tsundere, but considering some of the stuff he was going through then it's not surprising. I felt really bad when Madoka dumped him because she fell for that piece of shit Ono. He doesn't handle Madoka breaking up with him very well. Even though he's madly in love with her, due to the fact she hurt him and said she only sees him as a little brother, he felt tormented.

Ono - This motherfucker. He was in an affair with Tomoyo's mother. He was like the worst piece of shit character I've seen in a manga like this in a long time. The only thing I hated about the female lead, Madoka is that she falls for this idiot at one point. His brother is a piece of shit as well. He was slightly better after the timeskip.

Tomoyo's mother - She was the second worst after Ono. Now, it's clear that Tomoyo's dad worked a lot, but this woman was an awful fucking person. Instead of talking it out with her husband, she decides to cheat on him with a highschooler. She was very overbearing with Tomoyo and it came off as both of them having complexes about each other. The thing is her cheating on his dad caused him to have a hatred of her.

Madoka's dad - Another piece of shit who abandons his family to shack up with a prostitute. Aside from Madoka's mom, the prominent parents in this manga are awful fucking people.

Madoka's mom - She was cool.

Chizuru - She was a cool character as well. Sucks that she dies.

Runa - She was Tomoyo's unstable girlfriend. She was a pretty awful person as well.

Other than some awful character, it was a pretty good manga.

A bit dissapointing

I kinda like it at the beginning cause I thought the heroine was different from those shoujo stereotypes that I've countlessly read before.
But as the story progress it went downhill for me and it pains me to read it. I kinda stick to it till the end cause I want to know what happens to Tomoya.
Although it was a happy ending, it was kinda exhausting for me in finishing this. All the unnecessary shinanegans and the female lead being indicieve and dense made me really irritated...
It's only my opinion though...

And it's somewhat sad for me.

I am definitely happy for Tomo and Madoka. But it's Ono that makes my heart aches still even at the end. Since last year, I have been reading a bit of love triangles. And somehow, all the good bits have two really good guys. But one of them is always (a little bit) misunderstood and at certain degree sacrificing by letting the girls go. And it's just a tad retarded that they would eventually find a super speed love at a few pages, worse panels, at the end. I mean, come on! How decent can the mangaka be for these poor lovefools? Or maybe I should blame the manga publisher and the magazine. Goddammit!

Anyhow, it IS a really good read. But my heart aches too much that I hardly think I can read it again, at least for a very long while.

[End of 2018 Update] I kept my words, I read it again today. It's Ono that's still a puzzle to me, or he is quite unexplored (maybe intentionally by the mangaka). And I still disagree with his treatment towards the end.

And before I forgot, this manga development is real good. REAL life stuff (some can be compared while others I've yet to experience/observe/witness to have a say) with the good and not-so-good stuff. The latter included muddled, full of confusing and contradicting events. At the end of the day, there's grow and clarification. The communication in this is quite good too: both inner-self and between/among individuals.

Very good manga but too sad for me

It truly is a good manga, couldn't wait until the last chapters come out so ended up buying it in Japanese online. It was a lot more sad than I thought it would be since I was specifically looking for happy mangas with no drama and definitely not a tragedy, turns out there was definitely drama and there was a lot of parts that made my heart ache a lot. I should have checked the labels on the reading site, because on Mangapark it definitely says that there's drama, but it didn't say it here, so that was a bit stupid of me since I can't handle painful drama… :s

The transition from volume 5 to volume 6 was super confusing (I can't read Japanese) and I quite hated the two last books because it was just too much broken hearts and pain. But the ending is relatively happy, I'm just happy she ended up with Tomoyo, otherwise it would have killed me. But it was too much sadness before they actually ends up together, and that has really torn me apart.

Loved the funny parts, but couldn't take the sad ones. A great manga but not a manga for me.

I like the whole atmosphere of this manga; it reminds me of Obereru Knife in a way. The story flows well, and all the characters have interesting back stories that have yet to be fully revealed. But oh no, if she ends up with Ono! (excuse my lame pun) I love the comment before me who labeled Ono as "Mr. Smooth Operator" ahaha I was loling at that for a while. As a girl, Ono is definitely the attractive, mysterious, bad boy guy we kind of all want just a little bit, but he's definitely trouble! I hope someone picks this manga up, because I am ready for more! Thanks scanlators for doing this much so far!

TWO DEADLY DRAWBACKS

No. 1: The slowness of scanlation. I really (potentially) liked this story when I first discovered it years ago, but lacked, and continue to lack, the extraordinary patience necessary to follow it.

No. 2: The presence of the Shoujo Curse. I had just started tentatively reading some shoujo when I stumbled upon this highly unusual shoujo manga that has both good art (by shoujo standards), and a very non-shoujo-standard heroine. I was starting to enjoy her story thoroughly when there appeared on the scene that standard shoujo character the Smooth Operator. One thing I had learned by that point in my shoujo reading was that girls literally can't resist these guys, even if they start out hating them. Something female readers may not know (or care about!) is that most male readers can't identify with such men at all. I'm one of those. Therefore, as Our Heroine started out justly suspicious of Mr. Smooth Operator, and then gradually began to warm to him, and as I recalled that the only other male in the running for her affections was too nice to have a chance within the terms of the shoujo universe, my interest in this manga quickly waned.

Recommended for girl and woman readers who are very patient.
