Okay I have to admit it was pretty cute, especially there little secret place, and I love chocolate so I guess that got me as well. Plus the main character is a really nice girl and that's something I like in manga, nice innocent girls, not going to lie.
This story was pretty much riddled with cliches left and right. I don't understand why this is so popular when it's pretty much your typical run of the mill shoujo. I was hoping for a bit more since it's a writer and artist duo, which usually implies something less average...but this was incredibly mediocre.
One other thing that bothered me was the way this manga tried to glorify certain situations that I don't think SHOULD be glorified.

For example, Sayu picks her "friends" over Kanna. This is understandable, except that she's made to look like a pushover and somehow this never becomes an issue of point for her. I think this is entirely questionable---really, she never once blames her friends?
Also, Kanna's character is a little...flighty. Okay, I get that he's supposed to be like the hottest guy in school, but doesn't he seem a little forward for Sayu? One minute he's tutoring her, next moment he's kissing her ears(?). Not very gentlemanly of him, I'd say... He also uses breaking up as a way to force her to meet him. I get that he likes her very much and that he wants to do something special for her birthday...but this just seems really flighty. All of this just makes him seem really irresponsible and immature. I hope he doesn't represent an ideal representation of a love interest, because quite frankly, he doesn't cut it. He'd be dumped in a heartbeat if this was a josei.

The art is so beautiful. The secret base, awwww that was so sweet.
I really like how the tittle of each chapter, the messages in the chapters, match with the story, how all is meaningful.

I liked the way the mangaka shows the comparison of love with the bitter chocolate and as for the characters, I liked the both leads' perspectives and how they try hard to be with each other more. It's kind of typical but it's very touching as how the characters care for each other so much.. A good read.

The one thing I liked about this was the character development. This manga put all of the shoujo cliches together and presented them in a totally refreshing way. A very very good read. 
It's such a refreshing manga! So cute, sweet and so innocent. I finishd the manga today & read it another two times after I was done... I REALLY wish it was longer =(
The art work is really beautiful and the story was done really well... even though it had it's corny moments, "those who want to have another time out up their hands" XD
What I also love about it was that it wasn't overly dramatic!
I give it a 10/10 it's short, sweet, and a manga that you'll fall in love with!
Definetly recommend it to the romance/shouji lovers.

...in that bittersweet 99% cacao way. Hehe. While the story isn't really anything new for shoujo manga, it's written very well and realistically and has a nice sense of emotion. Reading it gives me a smile. The art fits the mood perfectly, very soft and sweet and light. I'd love to see more work by this mangaka!
