Description

A schoolgirl who was adopted by a family experiences hardships at school and home. Her foster family treats her as Reika, their daughter who had died a couple years ago. Eden no hana is a very addicting series. This manga is about a character who got adopted by a household who doesn't love her. And her estranged brother comes back to rescue here. Originally i thought it would some slight drama sibling love story. But dear god this manga is just on full blast the entire way through. There is literally 0 stops in this manga. Every chapter is just more insane than the next. Like you'd think 'oh finally its ok now'. NOPE. This manga just doesn't stop and partly because of that i just couldn't stop reading.
Now i don't think there were too many badly written characters in this series and those that were were minor despite being a major part of a characters life. Whoever with the exception of like 4 characters everyone is like out for blood. Trying to make sure something goes wrong. Its hell. I liked the FMC and MMC and liked how the author made there relationship both romantic and platonic (at least at first) but the consistent tension was also gut wrenching.
Now the FMC suffers from PTSD due to sexual abuse from her previous household. The story really isn't about brother was household. but more of her regaining her life again. And i enjoyed these parts i like how the author potrayed but at the same time from other series i feel like it was also kind of glossed over. She is saved basically by 2 different men both just trying to save her
The crying scene are also just spectacular. The buildup to it. the emotional depth when it happens. Its just tears you apart.
There is levity in this series. But it would've worked if there was more that way when everything does fall to shit it would have more impact. I think the ending was pretty good too though i would've liked a bit more of the relationship in question. Overall i think this was a very addicting series. The author paced herself barely but everything was out for blood. The main characters were likeable. and the series was fun but im never reading this series again. 7/10

this story has a little bit of love and hate at the same time.. though they manage to express what they feel in the long run, but it's kinda annoys me sometimes when the heroine is indecisive.. but nonetheless the story was good, the plot was constructed with sturdy backbone.. i'm glad things end up the way i want it..

I don't know what it is about Japan and oh, surprise! its ok they aren't "really" blood related incest, but that shit is everywhere. You have Oriemo, Usagi Drop, and now this where it has the main character happy in a healthy relationship and then they have to force the romance so they can break up with a good person to bang family members.

Also this shit is waaaay overdramatic.

Too much drama, too much annoying selfish stupid characters, too ideal main boy (pretty, genius, sporty, caring, loving, brave, etc). The main girl is your typical damsel in distress, who from a proud strong and determined girl from the vol1 gradually became a wimpy wreck, somehow feeling guilty for what she should not.

You could see how much feeling everyone else had towards everything.. But hers was a bit off. Some parts were too annoying for me. Artistry was flat but okay.

this girl is living in an abusive house and she wants out. She meets this guy randomly someday and he ends up being her real brother. She runs away with him and is able to live with him. She seems to not give a care for him though. There is also a guy at school that likes her even though no one at school likes her. His is when the story is built only on her relationship and you wonder what the deal is with her brother. And it starts to get dramatic suddenly even though there was no real sister/ brother build up during the middle of the story. His ex American lover is also very annoying to read about because she gets away with doing the stupidest most selfish shit. Also their dad is also very childish. Then she moves more and more forward with her now schoolboy bf. and they go all the way and all that. While at the same time she keeps falling more for her brother and her bf is also annoyingly pushy about her love for her brother. It's a bit much. Her real dad comes into the picture and tries to kill her and eventually he killed himself. She once again pushed her brother away just to chase after him. Lovely happy ending.. But spent most of my time being annoyed.

The series was ok. In fact it is 5:47 am and I stayed up till now just to finish this thing out of curiosity. Everything was okay, but why did they have to make the last chapter like every other melodramatic drama? The waiting and all. The ending was happy,,, fine but it was .... rather stuffed... I would say. Whatever, since it was happy, I can go on with my life without anything haunting me. And seriously, plagiarism takes place many times and it goes unnoticed. Here the author has quite a fresh, original storyline and the plagiarism thing ruined her career itself. Feel bad as the story does have talent and as a writer I can't even imagine that happening to me. So sigh! Now good night or good morning or something. I have to sleep. So yeah, read it, but try to not pull off any all-nighter stunts I just did.

After speeding through the entire series earlier today, all I can say is that this was one heck of a roller-coaster ride. I ABSOLUTELY loved it from start to finish.

For one thing, I never bothered reading the summary or the reviews about this manga, so I had NO clue who would end up with the girl. For the longest time, I had thought that Watanuke(donno his name) was the love interest, and that Tokio was just overly affectionate guy.

But, as it turns out, I had it completely wrong---and I'm happy that I was wrong. (I was totally rooting for Tokio, so when I finally realized he would end up with her, I was SOOO happy) It was sad as well though, because the author had given so much personality to Watanuke (who turned out to be the love triangle dude) that I really loved him as well.

In fact, in a way, it was the two love rivals who gave the girl the chances for her to smile and be happy. Oh the feels.. TT_TT
They taught her how to socialize, be happy, and have faith in others. Just the fact that Watanuke had more purpose than just to act as temporary love interest made this manga stand out from a lot of the others.

Everything was also very realistic, which I truly appreciate. Unlike what some reviews noted, the characters' actions ARE understandable. When love is born from such a situation, melodrama is hard to avoid. Anyhow, I thought the characters handled everything pretty well. Usually I get really annoyed by melodramatic stuff such as "The One," "Kyo, Koi wo Hajimemasu" or "Only Girl," but this one somehow kept me reading; so, all I can say is that it's doing a pretty good job.

So why not a 10/10? That's just my sympathy for the glasses dude. I honestly feel bad for him.
And personally, it was a tad too filled with sad scenes, but that was just how some peoples' lives are--I guess I can't blame the manga for that. ha ha.

But let me just spoil one thing: This manga has a good ending, depending on who you root for.

It's good that the author gave us a happy ending, because I would be raging and flipping her face if she didn't. After all that the girl has gone through, she deserves 10 Happily Ever Afters....

From enjoyable to really disappointing

I wanted to write a review with a neutral tone, but i can't get myself to do it. I'll be harsh and won't talk about what i liked for the sake of constructive contradiction (who am i kidding here ?). My apologies, as this manga still has its good part(s) and could have been a lot worse.

The obvious and admittedly completely subjective reason for my disappointement is that i hated this onii-chan's character right from the start. First he's waaaaaaaaaay too perfect (over-considerate of his sister's well-being, not to mention he's over-beautiful, over-skilled and over-wealthy on the surface) ; When i can't help but picture a guy as Richard Gere, it's usually really bad omen for my entertainment. Then, throughout most of the show, his patriarchal decisions don't feel natural to me within the context i'm given to behold ; i'm not saying he's stupid or unreasonable for doing this or that (this is what drama is all about), but that more often than not i found his choices simply inconsistent with his objective love for his sister and his objective extraordinary abilities.

The same facepalmgenous decision making pattern goes for his sister's behaviour, but fortunately not as often (i'm probably more benevolent). And seriously, who put into the author's mind that buckets of tears equals effective dramaturgy ?

I won't even mention most of the supporting characters (the exceptions being the classmates) that are only thrown into the setting to fulfil a specific task and absolutely nothing more.

Storywise, i kind of enjoyed it as long as there is indecision in the sentimental outcome and it doesn't take itself too seriously (in spite of the dark topics involved), ie. roughly until halfway through. After that, it just becomes one of these wannabe tragedies that i'm not personnally fond of : every single element on the face of Earth seems to be intriguing against the protagonists' living happily ever after, gods, nature, family and foes alike. Please, modern Japan is not mythological Greece.

More depth in the characters and situations would have been welcome in my opinion, instead of groundless and forced "oh, i'm the antagonist so i'm gonna do something real nasty to them", "oh, i love him/her so why don't we just forget about each other". The way the whole truth is progressively uncovered felt awkward and unoriginal to say the least. But by then i had already lost any hope and interest.
