Description
Humans are a despicable lot, committing sin after sin, filling the endless boundaries of the underworld with tortured souls. Now, it would seem, Hell isn't so endless after all, and it has become dangerously close to filling, and then overflowing into the human realm. Princess Lucuha sees this imminent disaster and has a plan: save Hell by making humans decent again. Of course, the angels can't simply allow demons to roam freely on Earth, and they do their best to stop Lucu and her dastardly plans.

Abandonment
by cecropiamoth

It's good because it's about an abandoned boy who gets substitute parents in the form of several demons and a Princess of Hell. It's very moving from time to time throughout, as the princess takes on more and more of the behaviors of a mother, and goes to greater lengths to help the boy. This is also a very funny manga, full of jokes about religion (occasioned, of course, by the presence of the demons.)

In particular, this manga is merciless to Christianity, as only something created in Japan, one of the few countries in the world that escaped significant Christian influence, could be. I loved that, because I grew up under a mean form of Christianity, and its meanness is often what is satirized here.

It's a seinen manga about ideas and a very strange kind of love, with jokes.

(And it ends ambiguously because, really what else would you expect of demons?)

Good but the ending killed it

I kinda liked it, a relaxed comedy with hardly any plot, perfect for killing some time with and smile a bit. However, you might want to skip out on chapter 89-90(the last two chapters), hell, skip the entire last volume (82-90), that's when it started to get a bit serious and weird/out of whack, which lead to the annoying ending where everything seems to have just been some kind of a make-believe world/dream/delusion created for some crappy reason and the mc is separated from the demon girl. What do I have to do to get a happy ending where they end up together or something, perhaps the mc can turn into a demon and accompany her or something? Threaten the mangaka's life? Even the "both become mortal and stay together"-type ending is good enough, even though I prefer the immortal or crazily long-lived option.

Fck, you don't just build up 90 chapters of emotions and ties between the main heroine and main character and then fcking separate them forever and "poof" nothing ever happened, it was all a dream, crazy how life does that, right? Damn it. I wish I hadn't read volume 10 at all, not worth it at all since it just made me feel annoyed, bothered and somewhat sad. I mean, I don't consider it a happy ending that he actually had a "happy" normal life with parents that are alive and own a real house, everything we got to know over 90 chapters went up in smoke. That's better than her and all of the demons(including his "dad") leaving him alone in that world to fend for himself, but, really, why even go for that ending when you can let some demons accompany him as family after she left, or just let her be there as well, or just recruit him or something as a demon to help with her goal. Separation like that ruins stories. Especially since he wasn't just separated from her, he was separated from that entire world and life, "waking up" into something like a parallel reality, seems everything was fake.

I kind of regret reading it till the end.

A seinen manga, so you would expect a serious plot development and brainkilling ideas behind it. It is there, lost in a forest of gags and ecchi moments (later in the story there's mild erotics). And it's too serious and kinda edgy. And yes...the ending. Basically, I've just read 10 volumes of manga and lived together with MC to experience the deepness of deceive you can fall into if you've got to deal with a devil. I feel tricked and robbed! Really!

It would be better if not overloaded by gags. I started to skip chapters in the end and didn't fully get the ending. I think I have a guess of what happened, yet I don't see if manga revealed how something like this was technically possible. And yes, if I'm getting it right, it was an upsetting ending for a Christian reader (I wonder how would one get so far in the story anyway...) I still don't get a crap about dude in hat and why he's opposing Lucu, maybe because I've skipped a couple of chapters.

This can be read in like 12 hours or so. Think if you're okay with giving your time to something so confusing and not giving an encouraging ending. Yet the beginning is good for some religious questions and irony, which could actually encourage one to think of your life, no matter what religion do you stick to.

the ending

is a total mind screw. i had to seek around the net before i think i understand it. but though the ending is weird, its not something coming out of the left field, the mangaka had planned this from the beginning because we can see bits and pieces of hints from the very beginning. however, regardless of the plot, the whole manga is amazing. i really love the simplistic art, i particularly like the way their intentions can be shown just a single eye against a silhouette. the humour is also great, especially the way the mangaka play off the religions against each other.

this manga is worth reading if you like humour and love religious jokes.

Lucuha is damn cute

I've read it more because lucuha is cute than the humor, although both were pretty good.

The only down side was the ending, through the story, plenty of tips of what and how things came to be were being added and suddenly it ended in a strange manner, felt forced, as if the series had received a cancellation notice.

Overall 9.9/10 - It's ok

Plenty of gags but...

This is a straight-up comedy, after the first few chapters virtually all character development is done until another new character is introduced. As for plot, you'll never notice it unless you read the ending but it does drop hints here and there throughout the story. The ending is less "lol!" and more "wtf?" so your mileage will definitely vary.

Funny.

It starts of really interesting and funny, then stuck in a gag (not that it's bad; it gave several side characters depths), before ending in an.....unknown way.

The ending is probably the biggest middle finger of them all; very in synch with the way it's been giving middle fingers here and there.... Again, not that it isn't funny, or that it's any offensive; On the contrary, it's funny and hilarious, albeit sometimes you just can't help but wonder "WHAT?"

Was pretty fun for a while...

Well, at first it was pretty fun to read because it was kinda interesting. However, as Mytskine mentioned, the character and plot development stopped after a while and the manga developed into a gag manga. However, the gags were very entertaining only for a while before they stopped being funny at all.

Dark humour

I especially like some of the dark twisted humour that was going perfectly well with the drawing style. I cant deny the comedy element in the manga, but it only appears when you put the characters together, the way they act towards another bring forth the humour. When you look at each character individually, especially the demons, they gives off an eerie feeling of "demons" like they are supposed to be: unemotional, dark and rotten, as if there's nothing to laugh about.

Nice Change!

Most of the manga I usually read are either filled with action pack scenes or comedic moments.

Lucu Lucu, however, is one of the few manga that has a somewhat relaxed feeling, even though it has a supernatural theme in it.

The characters stands out in more than one way (especially Lucu), the plot has a good pace, and the drawing style is quite interesting for a seinen manga.

Overall, this is one manga I would recommend to any manga fans out there.
