Description
In the city named Kotobuki, there are rumors of a man who defeats bad people, leaving only giant, beautiful graffiti at the scene. Since no one has ever seen that man in person, they called him "Spray King." Kuroda Miu, a photography student in an art academy and part-time photographer for a weekly magazine, wants to catch Spray King on film in order to create a good scoop for the magazine. One day, she met with Tanaka Torateru, a boy who just entered the academy, but who wasn't that good in art. How could the meeting of the two lead to the "truth" about the city they live in and about the hero in the shadows named Spray King?

Lame by mith on May 10th, 2009, 8:43am

it's lame...very lame. I mean, the character design is cool, the grafittis are cool and....thats it. The Backgrounds are badly drawn, the story is badly written and the 'superpowers' could come from the care-bears or some other childrens tv-show. Did i mention that the fights are bad? anyway, its a waste of time and effort(for you scanlators) on a series wich WILL be cancelled.

So far so good!!!! by Se3D03 on January 15th, 2009, 5:06pm

This one seems really interesting and I'm kinda getting an Air gear + Fairy Tail kinda vibe from it. I'm kinda skeptical about the magic can things though, I hope the mangaka can explan it a bit more in the following chapter. I liked Akatsuki better, but i Also love this one. Shonen rival rules!!! I just hope that some other groups would translate the other series in the mag.

Meh. by gencbiba on January 15th, 2009, 9:57am

Nothing that really stands out. Frankly, this manga would have been better if there were no supernatural elements and it was simply about some kid doing graffiti and kicking ass in fights. Magical spray cans? Not my type of stuff.

kind of .... strange <.< by Vamripper on January 13th, 2009, 6:44am

WTF, is what i thought , when i read the first chapter -.-" for little kids, i think Fairy Tail is more interesting <.< maybe he spent all his money, and needed a fast-made series to earn something

Its kind of lame, ... the drawings remind me of the way many Hentasi, and it doesn´t really have this "read-this-or-you-will-regret-it-for-the-rest-of-your-life"-story, well at least not for me <.< , maybe thats why the manga got only 2nd place :>

Awesome by emperor26 on January 13th, 2009, 6:27am

Shonen Rival seems to amaze me with some of their titles (although I wish the rest of the titles get some translation in the future), but anyway, Spray King is no exception, and looks like the best manga so far in 2009.

Blending in the superhero genre with grafitti, combine with a good plot and the mangaka's drawing style (influence by Mashima), this manga is quite original and great, and I really look forward to more chapter in the near future.

Mashima's assistant by Wererat42 on January 13th, 2009, 1:00am

I can see where the mangaka picked up some of Mashima's style in the character designs. Either way I thought that the shounen genre had been sucked dry, but it seems to still have some originality hidden. Fighting with magic spraycans... awesome.
