It's a good story and the art has improved.

It's basically about an obsessive guy who will do whatever to get what he wants and the girl who falls for a guy who can tell the future. Then this other guy has a dark past so he won't easily accept the girl's feeling although we can predict how it ended up. The ending was bad and it doesn't look like it's the end. The extra story does provide a little closing for the story but it seems there's something missing in between the last chapter and the extra story. That's my major complain. When you read a long story (well... it's pretty long: 5 volumes), you expect a satisfying ending and not another cliff hanger

Predictable but still good.

The story is interesting enough, I liked how the author put up the definition of 'fate'. Also it wasn't some silly manhua but very tragic with many deaths involving the word fate. However, it is somewhat fast-paced with the author trying to achieve a lot at once. And many of the plot twists are predictable enough.

Now, I didn't care about the main character, Ying Shuang. Most manhua heroines feel the same to me; Helpless, trying to act strong whenever and being involved in an arranged marriage that are against. So Ying Shuang ain't any different than that.

As for Shan, yes, he was far more interesting and his personality had depth.

But what annoyed me mostly was,
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
that the killer of Ying Shuang's parents was so obsessed with her. He kept searching for her to every city/village and he was finding her so easily. Not only that, he could hire anyone to do his dirty jobs.

The artwork wasn't that bad, unlike some other historical manhua.

Shadow of Visions suffers from the same disconnect so many manhua suffer from: great story, terrible art. There's no doubt these creators would have been more successful as novelists, but then I might never have been able to experience this beautiful epic.
