From Dark Horse:
Three years ago, a gateway between Earth and the Beyond opened over the city of New York. In one terrible night, New York was destroyed and rebuilt, trapping New Yorkers and extradimentional creatures alike in an impenetrable bubble. Now, New York has been rechristened New Jerusalem, a paranormal melting pot where magic and madness dwell alongside the mundane, where every form of human vermin gathers to exploit otherwordly assets for earthly profit. Now someone is threatening to breach the bubble and release New Jerusalem's horrors, but the mysterious superagents of Libra fight to prevent the unthinkable.
Trigun creator Yasuhiro Nightow returns with Blood Blockade Battlefront, an action-packed supernatural science-fiction steamroller as only Nightow can conjure.

other-world (literal, not -ly) mob boss with deity-level powers that takes place in a way you'd NEVER guess but turns out to be even MORE grueling and tortuous than a regular fight!!! Heh. Tortuous. The hallway was tortuous, too.
And the fog. The deeper you go, the less you can see and the less likely you'll make it back alive OR dead, 'cause humans have nummy, nummy corpses!

mob-boss giant-brained magic-alien: "Even if I am struck by a THOUSAND setbacks, that is NO REASON for me to BEND MY WAYS!"
I've wanted an 11 button for the ratings section once or twice before, but for this one... I dunno... 15? Hundred? Thousand? Yeah, that's about right: 15 hundred thousand and steadily improving.
Due to money stuff I get most of my English-language manga from the library, but this one was so good I bought volume 2 a month before it shipped. I might even get later volumes in Japanese so I can stumble through them sooner.
Get these books. Make your library get them, too.
(Oh, VawX, about your review, the 3rd is not the last chapter. I've read up through chapter 6 plus omakes. Also, someone changed the summary after you commented, so it is now correct. Thanks for pointing it out!)
it seems the summary is all about the oneshot.. well i already read the first 3 chapters, and the story is different from the oneshot (even the main character is different) and then i found that this series actually already completed... the last chapter is the 3rd...
A pretty good shonen manga. It's a little fast-paced, well at least in the beginning, but the action-scenes and drawings are awesome. If you're into mangas from the supernatural genre, you should definitely check this one out!
