| Just Doesn't Get Any Better than this. by crazyjap22 on January 8th, 2010, 12:04am |

Combine Stan Lee and Hiroyuki Takei minds together and you get a Masterpiece! For Stan Lee's first manga it's really good. Each chapter's ending just makes you want to know what's going to happen next. Anime I think yes just give it more volumes and Boom! Karakuri Douji Ultimo becomes an anime HAHAH

| Shows Promise by FamicomDiskun on September 28th, 2009, 1:21pm |

I personally like the manga. From what I have read it shows a lot of promise and may very well be the next heir to the shonen anime/manga throne. Heck maybe when this gets an anime adaption it might be the one that boosts Anime back into popularity again. For now the manga shows that it might be great but for now I'm just going to kick back and wait for the other chapters to be translated.

The art isn't that great, the story doesn't look promising and seems silly "two natural born enemies".. I also don't like the "third person telling" prospective and cinematic approach to storytelling... it did not feel like it was a manga... after knowing the author, it clicked.
With all respect to the people who voted highly, that is what get by having fanboys who blindly vote cheer for a series just because it is written by their favorite X or Y writer. I feel sorry for you guys.

kind of crappy work put up with to entertain nobrainer. this is a manga but they try to put silly narrative boxes in as many panels as possible. Characters, events, conversations sound random every way it goes. Anyway, so disappointing.

| Unexpected, But Great by emperor26 on December 29th, 2008, 12:23pm |

Ultimo was the last manga I ever expect to be done by the creator of Shaman King and Stan Lee himself.
However, this manga is actually great, and in many ways, original, with a good plot and some characters that fits well in this new series.
It'll be a while (at least until March of next year), but hey, if they could make one chapter this awesome, I can't wait for more.

This series looks pretty cool. I cant wait for the next chapters! The art is awesome... but Ultimo looks like a girl x/ I love how Viz already licensed it after a single chapter xD |

I cant see myself reading this, and I my opinion the art it self makes up for most of what the manga is worth. I too cant enjoy a manga without it having visual appeal even if the story is an epic master piece.

Though I can't speak for others, I had high hopes for this manga. Someone like Stan Lee working on a manga is more than most fanboys can dream of. But why choose to collaborate with the mangaka of Shaman King? SK was enjoyable, but nothing out of the ordinary. His art style is interesting, but it lacks finesse. There are tons of better artists to colab with in my opinion. This disappointment is reflected in the manga itself. The story and its premise is good, but the art is really underwhelming. It just doesn't deliver the punch and feels really generic.
Though one chapter is not enough to judge a whole series, but at this point, I can't help but feel disappointed. |
