Description
From Tokyopop: A dad that's a professional model passed on his stunning male looks to his only child, Kiri...but unfortunately, that Kiri is a girl! Tohya Enishi, the love of her life, decides to be a male model, so Kiri fakes her gender and becomes a male model alongside him. But things get really complicated when others start to fall for Kiri and her male alter ego!
What is with my day? I've read some completely rubbish manga today it's been such a waste of time. This manga was so boring. Her love for that unappealing Tooya guy just won't quit. He isn't a likeable character I wanted her to fall for someone else but she wouldn't. It was just too nicey nice I love Tooya forever and it made it so boring and not worth the effort. Tooya was not a good main love interest in my opinion, too much of a girly blushing guy. Do not read. It's not as good as it sounds.
I really thought this one would have a much better reader hook. After reading the first volume I gave up since the previews pretty much gave away most of the story line anyways. So I only read that short 1 paragraph preview of next volume then skimmed through the next volume. Nothing that really catched my eye. The art is mediocre as well. Even up to volume 5 where Mutou improves a little bit on art, Kiri still looked like a boy even though she was wearing a one-piece dress =/
It's okay. Average. If I haven't read Blaue Rosen before this, I would have thought this manga was fantastic. But since I've read that before this, I felt it was nothing special.
But, don't make my review turn you off from this interesting read. The girl really does look like a guy. In a scene where she comes out of the shower, I was pretty shocked to see her with boobs. It was like as if reality came shaking down on my head. My reaction was pretty bad if I do say it myself. "OMG SHE REALLY IS A GIRL!1!1!1!!"
The story is similiar to Blaue Rosen. Check it out.
This series is very interesting!!! I really like it!! But man, Tokyopop has commitment issues. It hasn't released the next volumes in a year and a half, maybe even longer. It seems they have dropped this series just like they did to sooo many others. For example, Rure too, hasn't had it's newest volume in forever. I am very dissapointed in tokyopop. These mangas are just too good!!!
The title is its phrase, since you have to tell yourself that after every volume. Hope dies last, so it says. Mine lasted till volume 5 until I finally gave up since there was no worth progress in sight.
Must add that I didn't like the art nor the main chars very much either.
So my tip: if you are not further interested in it after volume 2 then drop it. If you liked the first two volumes then continue since it won't change that fast and stay like this.
I have to say that I picked this up thinking it would be something to read in between my main stories. I have to say I was surprised. It threw me off seeing Kiri as a guy because she actually looked hot. I think that the guys are also hot in this story. It is nice to see Kiri cry and act like a girl because she is one. Her mom is evil, but very funny. I would give this a chance and the story does become better as it goes on.
It's your basic story, no outstanding character or story development or anything. Like PoshSam said, unless you're bored without anything else to read, you won't find this interesting.
Yeah the main character cries a lot but to me, it seems very comical. Not the annoying, whining like a 11-year-old premature kid. This series is one of the very funniest I've read. Art is good. I love Kiri's mom, she makes me laugh the most. Kiri does look masculine and at first it was a bit of a turn-off for me but then I started seeing worst, in other gender-blender manga. I prefer a masculine, mature-looking, handsome girl than a cute, small, boyish looking girl. That's just my preference though. This series is too funny to pass out on. Give it a read.
another typical shoujo. main heroine kira too weak and always crying. cheap love triangle. sometimes manga repeating itself overrated manga . nothing special art ok.
