Description
Amagai Gakuen, a prestigious school for boys, was hit by an unusual spring storm during the entrance ceremony. Five boys - Hazuki, Toma, Yusuke, Madoka and Junta - were all caught in the storm's violence and were affected by a strange phenomenon. All of them were transformed into girls.
Inevitably they will meet someone and fall in love. Bikke wholeheartedly introduces this new, beautifully drawn series about boys and girls coming of age.

I didn't know that this was a shoujo manga before reading it so the ending was a bit of a surprise for me. I hope that others keep in mind that she was intending it to be a shoujo manga from the start when reviewing. Relative to other shoujo manga.. it was interesting and executed really well. However, because I've read nearly all of her other works as well as manga outside of this genre, I was a little disappointed with the story.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
First of all, there was no need to have every single character in love with someone. It got to the point where one of the characters had three love interests, and two of them had two love interests... It even distracted from the development of the main couple to the point of ruining the ending. There was more interesting development between Touma or Houjou and Hazuki than his actual love interest. Also, there was too much emphasis on asking "which version of me do they like." For example, Hazuki pointed out that Houjou was only in love with the feminine version of him and he also asked Touma whether he was in love with him as is or as a girl. Its ridiculous to think that you become a completely different person when you change genders.. Obviously Hazuki still had the same personality regardless so it was disappointing that she used that as a barrier. Lastly, I feel like she didn't think things through when planning this whole gender bender idea. It's silly that such a small group of kids out of the entire school end up changing and everything is set so perfectly for them to keep it a secret. To top it off, their transformation depends on the weather of all things..

Overall, it was just an average read, and I definitely prefer some of her other works compared to this.

First couple volumes were great

I had this rated 9 for a long time, but now that I've seen the chinese scans and the ending, I'm sadly not as happy as I was before. The ending is as cliched as you'd feel while getting towards the final volumes.

Read Kanji

I wish I could read the original raw chapters. I've found up past chapters raw but not past 24 scanned and translated into English. This REALLY makes me want to be able to read kanji.

The series is great, the characters are great, the idea is fun and while it's been done before I don't believe it has to this magnificence. It took me a while to get into it, but the way they handle sexuality and relationships is really captivating. Gender isn't done great so far, but I can hardly expect something to hold up to my standards in that department.

Spoiler: the main character having 3 romance interests is insane! (in a good way). And I absolutely switched from supporting one to another at least twice. A couple of them actually have multiple romance interests, and the confusion between liking them as a girl or a boy has only been recently addressed and I can't wait for it to be explored!!!

A story of innocent loves between high school boys and girls. There are shounen ai and shoujo ai elements, but not dramatic. The ending is satisfied, no BL route (BL fans shut up!! THIS IS SHOUJO!). But obviously there is still something the author lacking. Romance is described pretty much flat... For example 'I like you, go out?', 'k, lol', some thing like that. I don't know how to describe, you need to read. But this series definitely won't waste your time.

Gender, sexuality and romance

Takes a good and elegant swing at all three of these things. It gets kind of tangly in terms of who likes who, but it's not outrageous in the way its done - it's more interesting than it is confusing. There is a lot of same-sex and straight oriented romance going on simultaneously and it always feels balanced - unbiased towards either preference. And of course I like that gender identity and being accepting of different experiences is sprinkled throughout the story. I cant wait to see how it ends!

Gender bender at it's best

Great manga so far. I'm personally hoping they up the shojo-ai and shounen-ai parts a bit, it's a fantastic read as a whole either way. It really is gender bender done right. The main characters (5 of them) are all well made and interesting. I'm having a lot of fun reading this. The comedy parts aren't over done. The whole thing feels realistic (or as realistic you can get with the main characters changing gender every time it rains), the drama isn't over done. The boys aren't perverts, yet still not 100% pure/innocent, they have their "boy" moments and they have their "girl" moments.

A very well made manga (so far). The emotions are all realistic and makes you root for them. I'm looking forward to other people finding out about their situation (and that sparking some sort of drama). And in general looking forward/wanting more to happen in the manga, be it drama, romance, heartbreak... doesn't matter, I want more action! Quite mild so far. I honestly recommend people reading this, it's a great manga.

Which reminds me, gender rolls are portrayed well in this. They touch on subjects that a gender bender should touch on. The emotional differences of a girl and a boy are made quite clear. It's nice to read the male point of view on girls, without overdoing the fact that we are different.

hard to find manga that takes ITSELF seriously, and this one takes you into the persons head, and tries to show you how that person feels. and then the manga gives you those "feels". like when sensei plays the tempest. good props for a song that fits.
deff a 10 and hope to find more like it!
