Through Ryuu-Sensei inspiring Sakae, I feel inspired to become something great or a teacher. I wish the story stayed longer on Sakae's past...Well I wish it was longer anyways. It's not fantastic and sometimes the story is a bit meh but it does send across some great messages!

I do like this manga as a whole, both its plot and characters are amiable enough to make readers care about them. And the art is mostly adequate, I actually quite like the main character's design (the seme, not the uke, people). However is it only me who was a bit taken back with the development and structure of the story? I have to say I felt a bit 'blurred' in the middle of reading, like when I would normally 'black out' for a while without a proper reason (mostly because I'm weird). It's just that I wish there had been some more exposure, even if only a bit more, for me to fully feel in sync with the characters. Even the author herself admitted how her weakness was shown and her storyline was still 'vague' in the atogaki (after words). That should clarify things a little better.

I really liked it. It gave off a really sweet and gentle feeling, it also had a really pureness to it that made me go "awww" a gazillion times. It had just enough drama to pull you in and help you relate to the characters and the smex at the end was good. I really enjoyed the fact that the two realized their feelings for each other rather than having one realize his feelings and then the other just go with the flow.

It wasnt really cliche at all.

My favourite part of this is the love doesn't start immediately, and it's not during their student-teacher days. Their initial relationship was innocent and only developed into more years later once they were both working adults which is great (and fairly unique!) since it gave them time to realise their feelings -- and most importantly Ryuu-sensei wasn't some pervy teacher preying on a young boy! That alone makes this better than a lot of BL.

To be honest I think the only downside to this manga is that it's shounen-ai; I would've liked to see more yaoi-ness especially when the art is so good >_< but even so it's still a really nice story.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I loved the final chapter with Ryuuji's makeover XD There's nothing better than a whipped seme (even more so when the uke doesn't realise his control!) hah so cute <3

Though the lack of drama might not make this exciting enough for some people, if you want something to make you saw "aww" then this'll do ^__^

Dull

A boring and cliche story, with very typical characters and situations. The only good thing about Aozora no Sunda Iro wa is that it isn't a revolting student-teacher relationship; the two protagonists' interactions back when they held those positions were entirely platonic, and the romantic / sexual tension began to evolve only after the student reached adulthood. But apart from that, nothing distinguishes this manga from any of the other shounen-ai titles out there.

After having enjoyed Oka no Ue no Rakuen (which was not entirely cliche-free, but still rather unique for BL) quite a bit, I'm disappointed.

This was absolutely heart warming :3 So the teacher theme isn't one i like too much in general BUT this time its different, because its not the classical high school setting, nor are their students involved directly. Also, its not a battle of wills or hormones, but instead its softer, gentler and an almost pure romance. But, if your looking for something that hits you strongly, or has a fast pace this isn't for you. This tugs gently at the heart and is very relaxed in pace, its also almost devoid of yaoi content (in fact i think its shounen-ai... theres reference to more but you don't see any of it)

The characters are very attractive and the manga plot is really really well-paced. I loved the pace. It was adorable and, though cliched a bit, really nicely done. The art is crisp and very nice and you can feel the emotions coming off the characters. smile

I agree with Derevex on this author, this is so far my favourite of her works. Though teachers for youth are often very touchy feely in my experience, but I suppose it may vary based on where you come from.

The art is fitting and the story moves along at a nice pace, if you like teacher love stories then I would recommend this one.
