I love this! I gonna have to read Shining star clamp again. I didn't realize they're reincarnations. Aside for a few casualties I didn't want. This is awesome!!! Love it! Can I go over ten!?

Beautiful Classic~

One of my fav! To think I've missed this one for so long... and yet I knew about it from quite a few years ago. Wonder if I dropped it for some unknown reason or just that I had to put it aside for IDK why and forgot about it? o.O;; Well whatever the case, I love it. While I wouldn't necessary say it's a masterpiece, but it was interesting. Very. It seems like this is Clamp's first work, so that must explain why. It's perfect within the range of a debut manga.

Story... I have to say is supprisingly simple in a view. I dunno, it's not that it's SIMPLE simple, but it lacked that something I dunno what. It has it's decent twists, and everything I'd ask for... well, IDK. I loved it though! It's why I said it's not what I consider best and masterpiece, and maybe not even complete piece, but very interesting!

I LOVED~ the art. It's in me, I love older mangas. More personality, more adult-ish and a bit of realism, but most certainly manga art. And B-e-a-u-tiful~ rather than cute lol. Did I mention more H-O-T long haired guys? XD I'm sucker for those haha~

I must say, as many others mentioned, this is a deserving classic.

Love, love, love

So many kind of love in this book, and this is the loves that I love in RG Veda:

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
3) Siblings love between Karura-ou and her sister Karyoubinga is really touching me to the point I cried at the part where Karyou died ( T.T) Never a story of siblings love in manga moved me like this one.
2) Love between Bishamonten and Kisshoten. Grrr I cried again at this part. Eventhough it only got a little part, but what happened between them is told ver well, and it's so, so... ugh whhyy ( T_T)
1) How Taishakuten loved Ashura-ou, to the point that eventhough he always said "It's painful to live without the one you love", but he kept on living only to fulfill that one promise with Ashura-ou. And he killed Karura-ou, Kisshouten, and prevented Soma from giving her blood to Kendappa-ou, also for that very reason (well but yeah he's the one that made all that tragedy happened though). Ugh but it's a very harsh way to fulfill your promise eh... The man so evil, and all of his doings was based on... a promise to the one he loved...

Other things

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
- At some point, I got a little bored on how Ashura was regretting all that happen to people that died because of him (let just use him to refer Ashura...). It was repeated over and over. But maybe it's also good? Because then we could see his regrets was so deep.
- I love the story where a big events or doing was happened just because of a something so simple. Like how Taishakuten broke the Heaven just because of one promise to Ashura-ou. And at least for me, it's so unpredictable...
- All died... haha... I do not hate it though.

Nothing about the artwork. Very, very, amazing, enchanting, anything. Every chara design is done very, very well. And this kind of artwork for the first manga serial? Ckckckck...
And, for me, ASHURA IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CHARACTER CLAMP EVER MADE!!!

When I first read the scanlations, I did so in one sitting....and ever since then it stuck w/ me...recently I bought the entire series and pretty much read it continously, and what can I say? i liked it better than before! It was a great first work, and now that I've read this and X, I noticed a lot of similarities between the two....I almost feel like maybe that's the way X might have ended.....

Though I haven't really finished the series it was the one of the first mangas I read and actually set up all the CLAMP titles to come and still shines as one of the best manga's I ever read.

I wasn't expecting a lot from this seeing as it was CLAMP's first work. Also, I'm not the biggest CLAMP fan. However, I thought the series was well-paced, interesting and original. The art is, obviously, rather dated now but I don't think this detracts from the story. The main characters are likeable and, all in all, it's very sweet. I would most certainly recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy manga like Basara.

RG Veda is a Classic

For those who are new to the CLAMP universe, they should begin reading this series. It may be the first manga that CLAMP made back in 1989, but that should not be a reason to avoid this manga. CLAMP are unrivaled in the depth they give their characters, and the amount of work and planning they put into their art and plot.

RG Veda is also a good choice because it is a reasonable ten volumes long so it won't be too much of an investment to get to the ending. Plus, if you've enjoyed this series, you will find many more works by these amazing artists. Other CLAMP series I recommend: X/1999 (published by Viz) and Legal Drug (published by Tokyopop).

This manga is my personal #1 so I love it too much. It's a masterpiece and the art is so beautiful and unmatchable although the work is as old as I am.The plot is brilliant, the characters are fully developed and the connection between Ashura and Yasha is the most complex one I've ever seen.I'd better stop commenting cause the only words which come out of my mouth are "perfect","best" etc biggrin

weird......the ending was twisted in my opinion....why kill off everyone important? >_> ....even though it was listed under shounen, it seems more off a slight shounen-ai & shoutacon without the sex for me.....beautiful art and a pretty good theme, but i think it would've suit the story more for ashura to be a female T_T

The art is beautiful. That, I have no doubt about. The concept for the story is also brilliant. The idea of it definitely stayed with me. However... Maybe I read a bad translation of it, but it just seemed... to drag on in spots it didn't need to. I think it would've been better off a bit shorter and maybe with a bit less unnecessary details in some spots. Still, this is something I would recommend to anyone - It's a bit of a classic, isn't it?
