Description
From Nagareboshi Manga:
Harumi has been in the hospital practically her whole life. She has a life-threatening disease, and is kept inside at all times. Her life is incredibly mundane until she meets Masato, a new patient. He isn’t the best influence, being a heavy smoker and drinker, but since they’ve both got nothing better to do, they become friends. This humorous story follows their meeting and the night they spend together, talking about what it means to die early.

I literally haven’t touched a single shoujo manga for maybe a year now and this one just felt so nostalgic. It has a good message but ultimately though cute, if these people weren’t about to die I don’t ship them as a couple lol. She’s literally half his age haha

I really love that manga, one thing made me edgy because that manga is so short.

This series was wonderful. It was very fullfilling. Both charecters going through the same thing going on thi crazy exciting trip to the sea. I love the feeling of no regrets and the message of life. I can somewhst connect with this story on personal reasons. The ending had me crying. Highly recommended.

just read it! i loved the style, and at points it had me laughing out loud. it's adorable, and doesn't have any set style or limits... it's bitterweet and really a good, short read. it both broke my heart and strung it together.

All I have to say is read this if you feel like you need to shed a few tears. It delivers the heartbreaking message of"everyone must die".
This one was so sad...

I kinda liked the characters, the character interaction and even the plot setting. However, everything was overall simplistic and too convenient. And the characterisation wasn't meaty enough to keep me reading. The art was quite good and pleasing on the eyes, though.

If you're looking for a simple and dramatic love story but with tragic overtones(and don't care or mind the depth of writing), this will just be fine. If you're looking for a serious story about terminal illness and romance, there are other titles to consider, like 1 Litre no Namida or Ai Ren or Seizon - Life.

Just a few thoughts:
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
if the girl truly suffered from the terminal stages of bone cancer, she shouldn't be able to walk or run around carefreely as her bones would likely shatter from slight bumps or other types of minor trauma. As for the guy, no way can a person with terminal brain cancer function normally since there're bound to be changes in his personality, a decrease in the types of skills he can use, possible paralysis, seizures and so on.

I love the 2 main characters and how the mangaka came up with the concept...

It's such a beautiful story. And while we all knew what was coming..... The ending felt sudden.. It would've been perfect if there was another chapter to wrap things up.

It's a very simple and sweet manga, that I did enjoy reading. However the plot isn't all great and the art can be gorgeous at times, but then looks weak in some parts. I still would recommend a read for it though.

Sweet sincere shoujo = Good read

So sweet... *sob Yep, I cried. I don't usually download typical-looking shoujo series, but with Heaven's Door, I'm just glad I did. The story is not original, other shoujo series may have already incorporated the same "deadline for death"-plotline but I just like the way how the mangaka used it in this series. It doesn't treat the situation as something to be so overly-sentimental about, instead there's this "push" or this "insight" to find something good out of it. I like the characters, they're personalities and the different insights they have on their life. Lastly, there's just with this earnestness in the whole story that I like. A recommended read for all shoujo lovers.

The Story

i generally tend to shy away from tragic stories simply because they make me sad. however, reading this manga, i was surprised to find out that it wasn't angsty at all! it was refreshing, to say the least. i don't mind their age gap since I'm one of those hopeless romantics that believe that "love has no age." i loved the plot, loved the humor, but most of all, I'm very satisfied with the ending. A must read for those who want a short, in depth story about what it means to live for today.
