Absolutely horrible pacing.

I have been reading this manga on and off (mostly off) for the last TEN FRAKKING YEARS and holy shit it still feels like we're still in the FIRST "major" arc of the story. A chapter every four or five MONTHS kinda screws up the pacing of telling a story so I always find myself having to re-read old chapters just to remember that oh yeah, absolutely nothing of import has happened in the last couple of irl years I've been tracking this manga.

Avoid this manga like the plague.

Underwelming

Could have been decent but he author insists in having this universe have more of a resemblance to a Japanese highschool than the middle ages riddled with War and magic that it actually is. There is just no way to take anything seriously and you have to put up with all characters having the smiling face of an Angel, their corny phrases and all the love melodrama that is rather pathetic to be honest, just imagine a low rank soldier girl declaring to the Queen of a country that she is her love rival... then know that there are at least other 5 other rivals...
Rain doesn't know what it wants to be and the I don't know if I want to read it anymore either.

Review +apology to Mondox

First the review: Rain is kind of weird. It feels slow, even though the plot feels rushed, and the art style is not the usual for a shounen-y story. There was also one plot arc that was stupid and just for comedy value. However, the plot is interesting and not (to me, at least) predictable, and I like all of the characters. The story is still in the 'revealing all the players' stage, and any finale is still a long way off *touch wood*. It's not my favourite manga, but it is very good.

Now for the message to Mondox: Sorry about the slow updates; we had trouble getting raws and then exams hit some of the team pretty hard...

Finally, please read at bato.to or sensescans.com . Death to the fox!

Disappointing, mediocre, dull.

The plot is not bad and is probably why I would bother reading it in the first place. The art is average leaning more towards 'Shoujo' art. Characters are generic, dialogues lack suspense, no sense of realism or synergy between the characters. Overall it had a decent plot and art but the presentation resulted in a mediocre Shoujo (if not for the tags) manga with no tension or suspense making the story dull and hard to enjoy.

Never heard of this manga before, and I forgot how I came across this series, but I am glad I did. I was not sure what to expect from this manga, but as I kept reading I was impressed by the story. It started off with your typical political medieval manga setting, where one country is at war with another. However, later on it turned a little like _Game of Thrones_ without the killing of all of the characters, with a mix of comedy. When other kingdoms were introduced, as the story progressed, the kingdoms stayed relevant. Their is also some foreshadowing of other worlds several times, so that might come into play later on in the story. The MC himself might be from another world, or has visited other worlds.

As for the characters, the series has several good characters. The obvious is the MC, I like his carefree, narcissistic, kind nature. I also liked two of the princesses, one is kind but with some small yandere traits, and the other has a headstrong personality. Most of the MC's friends are also likeable. Some of the antagonist are well written, because they are not your typical evil characters. Especially the main antagonists, he is the type to go behind enemy lines and challenge the MC, and will also warn the MC that he will make a move soon. He does not scheme much, he likes to do most things straightforward, so he I respect that about him. I like the MC, but I will not be upset if the 'bad guy' wins on this one.

The good ol' days

I rather enjoy this series. The art is good, and the pacing isn't bad for a LN adaption (usually the pacing sucks for adaptions). Reading it reminds me of the good ol' days when people *complained* a about Rain being OP; these days, OP is the norm in most of the popular stories that I know of.

the dialoge is quite ham-fisted and the story in overall in quite generic and it suffers from some things that are "because the plot said so" but while it does have theese faults it's overall not bad characters are generally likeable and not too stupid, and people die for once and i like that.

so all in all, it's a good read not just a awesome one.

Good for a Shounen

I'll be honest, I like MCs that are supposed to be "all-powerful/unbeatable"... assuming they're done right. Alot of war-based manga don't have enough to keep my interest, but this is fun to read.

I forget how I ran into this manga... but I'm up to date with where they are in translations (which is chapter 59). If the novel gets translated or the manga come to North America, I'd consider buying either. Hopefully others enjoy it as much as I do.
