Heading South

This is becoming an unpleasant barely average shoujo. Some parts were cute and almost redeeming but by now I've forgotten all of them. It's taking so long for something worth reading to happen that I barely care for new chapters - yet in my loyalty and hope I still read them here and there.

Let me break it down though: the first half-ish was alright but it never really got better. I kept thinking there were so many chances for turning points but the main character just wouldn't take them. I noted that within this mega-slow progressing storyline, the characters show no character growth. It's like the protagonist is immune to emotional change - and I spite her for it and the tension it causes between her friends.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The whole love triangle thing is just not working for me. Really, it's just gotten a little depressing knowing all the main characters are in a constant pit of discontent and unrequited love. ugh, melodrama in a pop shoujo? notmycupa'tea

So I ask, WHERE is this story going? Because I'm getting lost. And a truly good story will not keep you running in circles as a means for suspense. My advice is don't read it unless you know it could be a lost cause.

The protagonist is incredibly wishy-washy, but at least she admits such. The art and continuing lack of resolution make the manga somewhat compelling, but don't expect a main character that you can genuinely root for.

I DO NOT liked this at all! I usually can stand shoujo since I love them (esp love triangles), but this one, just no. Maybe it has something to do with the female lead, my gawd girl (you know, the annoying type cliche shoujo girls)! I'm sorry, tried reading it twice, but I just can't...

Cute

The manga starts off slow, takes some unexpected turns, and gets better, so read on before you judge.

It's really cute! Cute art, cute scenes, cute characters; I did feel a twinge from some of the scenes, like the later parts with the Second Hinata (though it had nothing to do with the main plot).

Sure, it's cliched, but it's delivered well and doesn't seem forced... most of the time. I've read up to chapter 38 in raws, and I really feel like it's been dragged out too long. The manga's just filled with pointless drama at this point; it's like pulling teeth... to the point where I wish it would just END already.

Pros: Super cute art, well-delivered lines and plot, can be quite funny, has that "addicting shoujo" quality, an occasional good scene.
Cons: Too long for its simple plot, flat characters, lack of emotional depth despite how serious it can be, too many side characters (yes, this is a con too, considering most of them are pointless so far).

Recommended as a good casual read, but it's nothing too special.

The story isn't SO bad actually though it is cliche. Not exactly my cup of tea since the person I tend to root for never pulls out in the end (disappointment for me but I'm more of a non-love triangle sort of person) it's a bit unpredictable since you aren't sure who she might end up with or how it would end exactly. I read until ch16, still waiting for the rest to come out. There are bits and pieces that annoy me due to the characters indecisiveness, mainly Anna who can't make up her mind and she's a bit of a crybaby (ugh, not my type of heroine either). As for the male leads, well, Hinata isn't very talkative which is a downfall, however, Sou is more the out-going type and a bit blunt (which is nice since he expresses himself well but he's lacking in some areas). Plus, each character doesn't get as much screen time as they should for more of that character development.

I do think the art is nice. Anyways, I recommend it if you enjoy a bit of drama, childhood friends and love triangles to see who will end up with Anna since it's definitely not obvious who she will be in the end!

If you enjoy shoujo with standard stories, predictable plot twists, and same old bishie characters that you keep reading these silly stories over and over again just to oggle, you've come to the right manga. You're basic cliche main girl who's ditzy and makes all the dumbest choices and says all the dumbest things you've come to expect in shoujo is center stage here. You will rage at her decisions and keep coming back for the silly, fluffy romance and relateable characters. Just don't take it seriously and it's a moderately enjoyable trip.

Albeit being that cliche childhood love shoujo, it is cute and can be funny. Plot lines are predictable but enjoyable.
In my belief cliche are known as cliches since they are popular and so are used.

I see the same banal, shoujo plot twists are woven into this manga. I honestly do not have enough patience to wait for the upcoming chapters because I have a strong inkling of who she is bound to end up with. It's cute, I personally like Hinata, but the flaws of the mangaka's characters are not... good flaws? Does that make sense? Flaws that make the person more realistic, human, and loveable. They are the cliched flaws that somehow shoujo manga keeps implementing and getting away with them. The childhood friends don't have a good amount of screen time individually, one of them holds out over the other in how many times he's appeared.

It's "meh" to me, but shoujo fans who would like to have some "guessing" in cute "love triangles" and "childhood friends" nonetheless should read this. To others, the person she'll end up with is not obvious. It's cute!
