The purported advertisement from the Jump Square issue says that everything in The Prince of Tennis up to now has been a "prologue" and that "a new legend for Ryoma and the others will begin." 50 middle school players have been invited to participate in the All Japan U-17 Selection Camp. Ryoma Echizen returns from the U.S to join his teammates and rivals.

Average compared to the first...
The second season is very... unrealistic. Tennis matches becomes magical spars against each other. It's not that it isn't enjoyable, it's just... far from the first and not as... 'tennis' as it should be. Sure the first wasn't realistic either, but it had 'subtle' magical spars, unlike this where there's a pirate-looking guy ( I don't even know). Anyway, I'll give it a 5 for what I've seen so far.
You get so see some flashbacks and new awesome battles. Little Ryoma is so adorable ^///-////^!!!!

and his brother is dang hawt ^///-///^
I can't wait till the next release. I totally recommend it.

Wow that was bad
I don't know what I expected going into it, but it sure wasn't that. The whole cast is gathered back together, are forced to have a death match, the eliminated side disappears to train in the woods until they can play tennis w/ 5 balls at a time, and the winning side plays 'high schoolers' who are absolutely insane. Ryoma left to enter the pro circuit when the original ended and now these 'high schoolers' are putting him to shame...
Don't read this!!!
Bad,... Too Bad from Konomi Takeshi
Shin Prince of Tennis is a bad manga.
I'm another fan, though not a big fan, of the first Prince of Tennis. And I said it was entertaining. But this... this is not good.
This one opens quite interestingly. But then it's just, wow these guys are too good. They are even better than these God-like players from the prequel. And... that's it. I can't find anything more exciting; I can't really see any plot going anywhere. I don't know if there is any development because I dropped this series quite early. The story is not sensible;

I mean, you know... from the end of the prequel, there shouldn't be any opponent stronger than Echizen...
Shin Prince of Tennis is just like 'Dragonball GT' version of Prince of Tennis, meaning it just has more and more stronger opponents to overcome. Frankly speaking, it sucks.
It's bad. Don't read it just because you like Prince of Tennis. This is nowhere as good. Prince of Tennis had already ended before this manga started.
Noooo ... why is there a sequel
It's ... just like a recycled version of the prequel, except even more unrealistic. IMO, this series should've ended long before the 42 volume length of the prequel but is still being continued.
Yeah, I know, sequels usually aren't as good, but I don't care. Prince of Tennis was just too good. I was so sad when Prince of Tennis was finished. I'm so glad the mangaka decided to keep the series going. I'll be able to read more about Ryoma and others now. I'm super excited for Shin Prince of Tennis. It's just like the first one, full of action/fantasy elements in a tennis manga. If you didn't like the first one, well you're probably not going to like the second. But if you absolutely LOVED the first one, you'll definitely love Shin Prince of Tennis.
Just amazing :)
There are a lot of people saying that this sequel is just a piece of shit. Personally, I think they don't understand anything. Konomi-sensei, sice the very beginning, wrote Prince of Tennis series just as an INTRODUCTION to this story. You may not like it, but that's how is it.
I still love the characters, and finally Ryoga has appeared in the manga! =)
The only thing I feel dissappointed with are the few chapters on each chapter, but well, there are 2 chapters per month, after all.
I'm looking forward to the rest of the chapters ^_^
Waste of time; dropped
I was a fan of the prequel even though it had those retarded-like super special moves and stuff. I was delighted when I found out there will be a sequel but when I read the first chapter, I knew that the next volumes were going to end in disaster.
First of all, why didn't the mangaka just bury it already?! PoT's finished, everyone's done with the craptastic tennis, the 3rd years graduated, Ryoma went to America. Why was there a need for a sequel, especially in a time setting where they were still in middle school? I can only smell money here, phishing out all the money they can from the fans while PoT is still hot. I mean, every chapter was thin, the chapters had about 15 pages of ridiculous "tennis matches" and IT WAS EXPENSIVE than the normal tankoubon! What's with that!
And don't even get me started with the art. It NEVER changed, the characters were still stick-like figures with height like that of a giant's despite them being middle and high schoolers. There was totally no development in the characters, the story and the mangaka's skills as well.
But I continued reading it to give it a try, after all, I can see my favorite characters again. It was too much. I sold the 7 volumes that I had. What a total waste of time and money. I don't get how people can easily say it's "PARFEEEECT 10+++!!" in spite of the stupidity going on in front of their eyes. But eh, it comes down to people's preferences. Have fun everyone.

VERY DISAPPOINTED! =(
I was soo excited about a new series like everyone here =) ... with the first series I actually jumped a couple of times while reading it when I was excited but also tensed =P ... but I was very disappointed with Shin Tennis no Oujisama ... it started well but then I got really confused with the story ... it follows someone and then the next chapter it's someone else! WTH! ... I won't give a 1 though because I still like reading it ... don't really know the reason though :/

It's a good idea for a continuation but is poorly done. It now just seems to be the POT again just more silly.
