Description

this appears to be the manga adaptation of a much longer novel form and I'm impressed that it could fit into one volume without losing too much of the story or feeling too rushed, although the pacing did feel quite quick the story of Mulan is like that, easy to get through within one sitting.

the story of mulan is actually an epic one, thus i am very pleased that the mangaka able to condensed the story to just one volume without leaving out any character growth and relationships but still have a coherent storyline. the chinese names give me quite a trouble, but if one pay attention, the progression of the story is quite straightforward. though it is war, there is barely any gore and the fight scene is not interesting. however on all other aspect it is beautifully drawn. a good read.
If you're thinking this is anything like Mulan the movie, you're wrong. The ending feels a bit half-baked, but it can work as an ending (i guess).Oh, and just so you know, there's no dragon or spirits in it and it's very fast-paced, spanning about 9 years total in just 5 chapters. It is also rather informational.
This volume feels like an introduction. Hopefully its incomplete?
