Description
Oneshot:
Takeshi wakes up one day to a cute shinigami, asking him to name his dying wish. Luckily for him, she's new at the job, and messes things up. Now, instead of being dead, he makes a team with the shinigami Kiriko and helps grant the last wishes of people who are dying.

Serialization:
Aida Shizuka is three days from being executed for cruelly murdering his family when a shinigami comes to visit him. It's his little sister Hibiki, who has come to make sure his soul goes to hell! Hibiki has another job on this trip as well, granting the final wish of a girl with heart disease, and she drags her condemned brother along with her. Soon, it becomes apparent that people are not as simple as they may seem, and even Shizuka's guilt is uncertain. Hibiki and Shizuka promise to search together for the truth about their family's death, and they won't let life, death, or trouble in the afterlife get in their way!

This is the most wretched "ending" ever, just dumping a bunch of clues in your lap & telling the reader to "please think about it". Even just outright saying "the butler did it" would have been a better ending than this garbage.

.. unless you want to have the worst axed ending experience ever. It's basically a mystery novel that ends before the main mystery is solved. To give perspective, the last line of this manga is quote: "Please try to think about who the culprit is."

It's a tough life being a writer for a serialized story, whether it be TV shows, or mangas. Sure you get to write as you go, meaning you don't even know what the future is for your own characters before you get paid to put them into your world on paper. But the bad part is you have to be able to extend the story at any point if your boss deems it good, or end it (often abruptly) if the sales are bad.

And this manga received the latter, at the worst opportune moment because in the penultimate chapter we were just introduced first time to a vital character, perhaps even the main antagonist. Too bad it had to end at the place it did where there was no room to fit what could've been in the author's mind: a year worth of chapters (this is a monthly magazine), into 31 pages. So he had to do what he did, which was surprising to say the least, but again there's nothing else he could've done. There's no way he could have after showing the antagonist, only for him to get captured and brought to justice and everyone live happily ever immediately the next chapter.

I wasn't sure before, but after reading this manga I have concluded that yes it can. It really can.

Actually, simply describing the ending as 'bad' doesn't do it justice. It's abrupt to the point of absurdity. Not only was it ended on a cliffhanger and an unresolved mystery, but a bunch of new (apparently important) facts were suddenly introduced in the last chapter with barely any development. Was the father's cousin even mentioned anywhere before? They say a grand total of like two sentence about her but apparently she's critically important to the mystery somehow. Come on, that isn't being 'open', that's just bad writing.

I get it, the series didn't sell well and was canned prematurely. But still, there are better ways to end it than this. Actually, pretty much *anything* is a better way to end it than this. Had the final chapter simply not existed that would have been a better ending than this.

TROLL ENDING, I think anonymous and 4 chan are behind it?

Seriously this ending is realy realy BAD! dont waste your time people please!!!!

FUCK THIS STUPID SHIT. DON'T READ IT. DON'T FUCKING READ IT. DON'T EVEN LOOK AT IT. I know rushed endings can be bad but this is fucking ridiculous. If i was given the opportunity i would punch the author in the face. Seriously though, if you read my comment before you read the series, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DON'T READ IT.

Oh btw, this is all coming from a person who loved this series until about 15 minutes ago(the last chapter was released then).

ok, i dont usually read mangas since i usually avoid mangas with to much death involved like this one but the description got me interested, the manga itself its really interesting and the male lead its strong and very intelligent.
After reading until chapter 7 i can say that i have high expectations of this manga, and i can say that the death of the famili of shizuka was not natural, meaning that in their deaths there is non-human involvement

I like these dark mangas with the characters who are just... great. Can't describe it. It has a light yet dark atmosphere, making it pretty suspenseful at times. Humans are portrayed as beasts who want to kill one another and the darkest aspects of humans are shown. Jealously, rage, desire... murder. The main character, the male lead that is, is complex and we can't understand his character. A seemingly sweet individual that, at moments, show to be twisted and cunning. He is not what he seems.

The story flows pretty well, divided into little arcs. First was unexpected as others have said before me. The second was somewhat expected. I wasn't at shocked as before. Overall, I really can't describe the story that much since it has only been 5 chapters in english. I think it made a fantastic start. Mysteries like why the brother killed is still left unsolved. It still has a lot of potential.

I feel as though I should talk about the sister. The sister is not the dumbest of all manga heroines. Cries over her brother maybe a tad too much but I don't dislike her. In fact, I think she just has a brother complex. She does anything for him, and I mean she would do anything. She interesting and she could still develop.

To wrap it up, I like it smile

A good series, effectively mixing drama and humor. Notably, though, the two elements are balanced by placing each in its own plane of existence. Earth, the human world, is gritty, twisted, and dark, while the afterlife, the shinigami world, is effectively carefree, light and orderly. Whether this is on purpose and the contrast was created intentionally or not has yet to be seen, but so far it has served very effectively to create the setting and tone.

Shounen anime/manga that try to explore the depths of the human psyche like "Deadman Wonderland", "Ergo Proxy" or "Elfen Lied" have a basic flaw - they don't focus enough on one thing they want to highlight and yet their approach is to narrow and their explanation is to shallow and in the end the only thing they end up doing is producing a little more gore than your average shounen. Bad things make humans do bad things. No need to expand this idea over 10+ episodes. I get it.

In anime/manga these bad things also cause you to plot-twist the plot, as well as your once cutsey eyes turning evilish and insane. Tragicaly this, so far, seems very true for this manga. Of the two so far available mini arcs - two had a plot twist.The first caused a minor "wtf-moment" for me but the other one was totaly expectable as it followed the same recipie as the first one.

Non the less - its fun to read so far.
