Mixed feelings about this one

The stories fluctuate pretty wildly in terms of quality, so I'll do a mini-review of each one.

Kaine - Intriguing plot, interesting characters, engaging relationships (despite their twisted nature), and a unique concept that ties them all together. Definitely the best of the lot, and strong in terms of both plot and characterisation, especially considering its length. 9.2/10

Magical Mystery Tour - Interesting concept, lacklustre execution. There were too many plot holes in too few (31) pages, and the portrayal of a guy who attempted cold-blooded murder in a romantic light just because he risked himself to save the girl he'd (surprise, surprise) fallen for is one of those fiction clichés I have a personal aversion towards, so my rating may be a little biased. 4.8/10

Tokei Jikake no Orange Bakudan - A fun ride, and all three characters were very likeable. If Jam had been a little older, she'd have made a good love interest for Tatsumi (and it's strongly hinted that she will eventually "grow into it" wink ) As it is, the trio of singer, songwriter and unusually perceptive fangirl make an excellent group of friends. Loved the (hilarious) twist ending, too. 7.0/10

Tokyo Top - I was pleased that this seemed to feature the trio from the preceding chapter, but was quickly disappointed. Tokyo Top is your typical actor x actress dramatic shoujo romance, complete with stupid fangirls and bad guy "love rivals" who have less than a snowball's chance in hell of getting the girl. Once Tatsumi and Jam stopped playing a central role in the plot, Gai became boring, with no foils to temper his glossy "perfection." But it doesn't get too bad of a rating because Satsuki's actually a good character; too bad she's stuck in a shoujo love triangle. 4.5/10

All in all, I personally recommend only Kaine and Tokei Jikake no Orange Bakudan, both of which were great reads and stand perfectly well on their own.

... Kaori Yuki manages to amaze me, with the intricate plot, the complex characters and the soul-stirring emotions.
A must-read!

I found the plotline much more interesting that in some of Kaori Yuki's other short works like Boys Next Door or Cruel Fairytales. The whole idea on which the story turns is very original. Art is stunning. Definitely Kaori Yuki's best oneshot.

Personally, I humbly disagree with the previous comments, especially the one right below mine. I think it was another truly amazing masterpiece by Kaori Yuki for a ridiculous amount of reasons I don't even know where to begin. Besides, I wouldn't want to give anything away as sensei's works have always been best read that way. It's short anyhow so I would recommend it to anyone to give it a shot. It may just trigger something in your life for those who give it a lot of thought. As a fan, I would've really loved to see more, however, I think Kaori-sensei had once again knew perfectly when a story had to come to its end, as she had always known when not to drag on her works unnecessarily.
